we’re a new breed; we’re ready for winter this time

The rain fell steadily behind the glass. Though the wind was as still as it was from indoors. The sky, dark, as was the unlit room. Days have gotten shorter. The sunlight, fighting for control of the shorter days. Fall has arrived, and with it, a hush of silence as we prepare for our first cold weather season in a post-Covid world. photography:MAMMA | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | lace dress c/o:MAGALI PASCAL | vegan leather dress jacket c/o:DAVID LERNER | pebbled leather pouch c/o:STATUS ANXIETY | shoes c/o:NAKED FEET Something about it feels quieter than before. Like the stillness resounds louder off of closed city doors. If ever we were urged to stay home, now is the time we consider, that might not be such a bad thing. Bears hibernate through winters, saving their energy for the more habitable months. As we continue to adapt to a new normal, we consider what the new season will bring. Trapped, alone, scared. The memories of summer past remind us of just how much has changed in …

perspective of reality, emotions and fantasy | what is real life a day in our dreams

I believe that who we are exists somewhere between reality, emotions and fantasy. There are times our emotions tell us things our mind simply cannot. Who we love. How much pain we can bare. What makes us happy. Fantasy is the next level, and perhaps the most raw essence of self. It tells us who to trust. It gives us that gut feeling that we can neither create or ignore. It is a realm where our creativity and imagination are truly limitless, without the restraints of physics or science. People often dismiss the part of themselves driven by fantasy. But why? Why turn away from the only part of yourself in which you have complete control and direction. The place you can be anything you choose. They say it’s not real. It’s just a dream. But aren’t dreams what drive people to accomplish incredible things? Hasn’t every visionary and leader of every generation first started with nothing more than a dream. Believing only in reality is a trap. You’ll never grow past the things you …

positive lifestyle changes since Covid-19

In light of the word’s upheaval during the Covid-19 pandemic, I wanted to share some positivity during a time of struggles. In no way am I making light of the tragic series of events during this crisis. However, I find that the flood in my inbox and news channels of live updates and notifications are the best resource for appropriate guidelines and safety measures. Here on Day in my dreams, I hope to share something with you that’s inspiring to make a positive moment out of a dire situation. My heart goes out to all who are suffering. For those looking for a silver lining, here are 10 positive lifestyle changes I’ve experienced since the Covid-19 crisis. My hope is to inspire you to make positive changes in your life as well, and learn to grow and adapt in a time of crisis. 1: I’m working remote Working in pajamas, better snack options, no interruptions during chaotic deadlines… How many of you have wished for and begged to work remotely? For many of us, that …

what it means to just let go

Darkness covers the earth, at least for those hours surrounding the work day. Every gym parking lot is full to capacity. Cliché post holiday routines are unavoidable. Keto, intermittent fasting, dry January… It’s the new year. And with it, is born a sense of motivation, purpose and the possibility of a new, brighter future. photography:JOSH WOLFE | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III   Type A and enneagram one… I know it’s overplayed. Yet, I cannot ignore the chance to re-organize and strive for something new. I don’t force myself into fad diets or a new gym routine (though perhaps I should). Instead, at the start of each year I construct a new way of seeing the world. I challenge my natural way of thinking, and strive to connect with a new reality as the world around me continues to evolve. The universe changes. People change. We all change. If we cannot examine ourselves and decide to change, we will be lost in a world of the past. We will forget who we are. Time will trample …

all you need is love

leave a legacy of love, that’s all you need to know

In a herd of a thoughtless, self-absorbed generation, it’s easy to get lost. It’s easy to be distracted, to forget about others in our quest for happiness and self fulfillment. We seek happiness. We chase our dreams. We desire to leave a legacy. What is success without someone to share it with? What is happiness when no one else is smiling. What is a legacy with no one who will care enough to remember you? We live in an era of darkness, where visions are clouded. We fight, strive and seek for ourselves. We forget about the people around us. We forget that they too are chasing their own dreams and fighting for their own lives. People all around us suffer with emotional damage, baggage and hopelessness. Our mental health is slowly slipping. Not for just those who suffer with severe anxiety or depression – but for everyone. Gasping for air so deeply they can’t imagine sharing their breath with another. Yet, maybe that’s the very thing that keeps us above water. People are made …

happiness happenings

With thoughts, ideas, and inspirations whirling through my head  – one reigns supreme: I am so thankful and humbled by God and His goodness. I had originally planned this post to be revolved around the happenings of NYC Fashion Week, glittering parties, incredible people that were met, and experiences that were had. (Don’t worry, all of that in posts to come). But first allow me to gush on some other happiness happenings. (oh and the Happy Socks btw – purely a perfect coincidence) This week marked my second in the NYC office, and makes for just over a month of my career switch. The work space was buzzing, and oceans of words cannot express how happy I am to be surrounded by passionate hard-working people, and a group of brilliant leaders to guide us into a new chapter of a beautiful story – one which I hope never ends. photography:KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | ribbed knit c/o:SAMMY DRESS | destroyed denim c/o:BERSHKA | cuffs:THPSHOP | timepiece c/o:CHARLIZE (get 15% off with code: dayinmydreams15 )| …

sunday morning

Stillness truly is a commodity one should treasure. And one of the few times it shows itself is during the first moments of the day. Though I’m not a proclaimed morning person (quite the opposite actually), once I manage to pry open my eyes, soak in the light, and indulge in my first cup of coffee – those moments that follow are actually quite pleasant when the day’s rush can be put on hold. The view of the city below keeps my mind wandering on dreams of the future and memories of days past. And weekends at home – don’t even get me started. My daytime wardrobe is lucky if it finds me. Lazy you say? Comfy, I answer. #truestory photography:KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:NIKON D90 | bralette c/o:TRUE & CO | cuff c/o:MADELEINE ISSING | rings c/o:KINDLING & COMPANY | geo necklace c/o:KINDLING & COMPANY | hotel:W HOTEL Another great wake-me-up in the am – yoga. don’t blink

Because some days really are too good to be true. Three years ago, I had never been to NYC. Now, both work and pleasure have since brought me back dozens of times, and the city’s soul has now become a more familiar place to me.  (Though I must admit, I have yet to master the subway system) #helpme The city is truly full of endless adventures and possibilities. This morning’s mission was one of the most urgent nature, and hardly accomplished in time to avoid a complete catastrophe… but just when I had almost given up hope (frantic, two blocks away from where my search began)… there it was, tucked in the corner of a busy intersection, and almost in arms reach…  the one answer to every problem. Coffee. Yeah, it’s like that. photography:KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:NIKON D90 | knit:FOREVER21 | ombre joggers c/o:PARKER SMITH | loafers:NICOLE | stack rings c/o:K D’Angelo Designs | location:W HOTEL UNION SQUARE Dress in NYC is almost a formula. what happiness is made of

Hello, and happy Saturday. Had the most wonderful past weekend with an impromptu trip to NYC to visit a good friend. All 48 hours held every bit of bliss one could ask for – from city sights to tasty bites, complete with a luxury stay in Union Square’s W Hotel. Spending these better moments in life always brings to mind a thought: what exactly is happiness made of. Is it a formula of positive experiences combined in the right moments, soaking in the luxuries life has to offer? Is it something that can be created and re-created if the solution is found? I believe happiness is many things. But above all, it is a choice – the eyes through which you see the world, and spending it with those you love. Thank you friends, for just such a weekend. Will fill you all in on more details from the trip in later posts. In the mean time, all my wishes to each of you that your weekend and days to follow are spent in happiness. Apparently feeling all warm and …
