This summer’s 5 key fashion grabs for the minimalist wardrobe

Key fashion essentials that will elevate your spring and summer style, without taking over your wardrobe.  The debate of quality versus quantity continues as we face a world of economical unrest. While one part of society is still grabbing up fast fashion for immediate gratification, another has refined their sense of style into a capsule that both exudes personal expression while being functional and versatile within one’s daily lifestyle.  These minimalist summer fashion essentials are the 5 key pieces that will update your wardrobe of quality essentials  with a notable nod to luxury fashion trends that extend beyond the season to come. Pop color mules  The most efficient way to update your essentials is with a statement accessory. Grab a pair of mules in this season’s most fashion forward color trends, opting for a bright pastel you can offset your wardrobe of neutrals. Mules are not only one of the hottest silhouettes of the season, they’re also a functional design that’s easy to slip on, and often more comfortable than you average heel. It’s also …

the only 5 jewelry essentials you need to accessorize every outfit

We live in a world of access. And, striving to live a more minimalist life has taught me access actually creates stress, instead of reducing it as we sometimes believe. If you’re working on cutting back and investing only on high quality essentials, you’ve come to the right place. Here are the only 5 jewelry pieces you really need to outfit every look in your wardrobe. #1 Stackable gold rings I have probably 100 rings in my possession, very few of which I frequently wear. When it comes to everyday style, I have found a few (3-5) high quality gold rings get the most wear, and are truly the best for styling 95% of outfits. For simple, casual and minimal looks, wear 1-2. For bold power-play energy, layer all of them on one hand. #2 Ear cuffs Since receiving several pairs courtesy of Maison Miru, ear cuffs have been a daily essential. They modernize every look with a subtle edge that’s still feminine. #3 A collar length necklace (or two) Whether you opt for a …

minimalist fall fashion must-haves report, from runway to street style

It’s hard to imagine the end of summer is already here. But for perhaps the first time in my life, I’m looking forward to the crisp air and the return of fall fashion.  The longer I work in fashion, the more of a minimalist I’ve become. Passing through phases of maximalism and needing to drop unspeakable amounts on new collections each season- I’ve learned what I will actually wear. And what I won’t.  Yet, it’s still all in fun to add a few new pieces into my wardrobe each season. After watching the runways and drooling over NYC, Copenhagen and Paris streetstyle for the past several months… how could I not.  Image cred: Getty Images Simply put, after months of following this seasons fall trends in the making, here are the 7 wearable must-haves I’ll be scouting out this season to boulder my minimalist wardrobe.  Image Cred: @maria.calvet, Whowhatwear, @mvb The fitted, knitted maxi dress  The return of 90’s fashion didn’t just bring back platforms and chunky slides. They brought back a form of elegance …

self check, is this outfit even me?

An inbox full of fashion newsletters, runway updates, trend magazines and reports – and don’t even get me started on scrolling for hours through covet-worthy insta posts. It’s easy to get lost in the world of fashion.  We are a culture of excess, and access to it all. Working in fashion and managing a side hustle fashion blog keeps me brow-deep in all things fashion. And studying all of the world’s most tantalizing trends can sometimes make it difficult draw the line between what we love, and what’s truly “us”. If your wardrobe hasn’t felt like you lately, maybe it’s time for a self check.  It’s important to realize you can appreciate all kinds of fashion, without feeling like you need to jump on board with every single trend. If you’re trying to reduce clutter and maintain a more minimalistic wardrobe, perhaps it’s time for some self diagnostics before shopping. Pre-shopping self(help) checklist: Does this piece express something about me? Is this something I would feel confident wearing? Do I have other items in my …

5 modern trends with a classic past

Repeatedly the fashion industry will tell the story of how trends come in and out of fashion. The perpetual crashing waves of trends that hit consumers and sky-rocket the value of different products. So often, when a trend crashes upon us all again we forget the past. We forget where the look originated from and just how long it has been around. However, as someone who adores history in all forms, obsessing over the past of these summer trends came easily to me.  September fashion week’s trends for spring proclaimed many maximalist looks to be particularly chic, but the most relaxed looks that were coming to us were the ones steeped in the ultimate amount history. From trench coats to plaids the runways weren’t just filled with our new favorite looks but also our history from long ago.  Here’s a rundown of a few of the most modern trends with an iconic classic past. #1 Trench coats There is little room to doubt that trench coats have a classic past, from the name itself to …

imagine a world, and resolve to make it so

We should reinvent ourselves not only everyday, but in every moment. When we cling to an idea of who we think we are, it’s then we get stuck, when we can’t compromise, and often when we’re too blinded by ourselves to really see each moment for what it is. But, it’s not so easy to be ever conscious in every waking moment. As such, each year I try to re-evaluate who I am, who I want to be, and areas I feel the need for growth. This becomes a sort of loose framework that helps to guide the consciousness in those moments you do find time to pause. In years past, I have sought to simplify, to let go of the pursuit of perfection, and to strive for progress.  2021 has been a strange year. One I cannot begin to know how to describe. It wreaked havoc on our lives. It taught us how to be more self reliant and prepared. It made us question our way of life, and it changed the way we …

I’m ditching my old sweats for Los Angeles Apparel

November has arrived, and with it that chill that seeps into your bones and steals away every semblance of summer’s past comforts. Thankfully, I’ve found my new live-in uniform thanks to Los Angeles Apparel. I’ve spent more than I care to admit on the hunt for the perfect sweatpants – all in vain. The material is always wrong, scratchy or too thin. Or the elastic so tight my feet loose feeling within moments. The fit’s not right, they collect lint like cheap velvet. I’ve even made the investment on some luxury brand sweatshirts on my quest – to find that my oversize sweatshirt was actually so heavy (and not soft) that my shoulders were ablaze by the end of the day. I’ve also tried Amazon Basics, some pop-culture retail boutiques, you name it. When Los Angeles Apparel reached out and offered me some pieces from their collection, my past experience made me a sceptic – to say the least. However with no obligations asked, I decided to give them a try. I can’t tell you how …

this fall’s minimalist pop color: green

There may never have been such a strong color trend as this 2021 trending hue. The new fashion statement color – a bold hue of vivid green.  Perhaps due to society’s shift in getting back to nature, this color of life is dominating catwalks and streetstyle stars alike. (OK I made up the getting back to nature part… but hey, it makes sense). And, after doing some further digging into the trend, in fact the FW21-22 NYFW Color Forecast does call the color a tribute to “the fun side of nature.” Spotted on stars like Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid (frequently spotted sporting this color trend), you probably can’t open your social without spotting some hue of primary to emerald green. Green is truly the color of life. And while fall slowly steals that away from us, we’re still reminded of summer memories with this grassy hue that somehow evokes a feel-good energy. Who wouldn’t want to capture that. And it’s not just your fashion influencers adopting the trend. Major luxury players like Bottega Veneta and …
