Dresses, hats, lost scarves and bags littered the floor. It’s apparent music is playing loudly somewhere nearby, but it’s muffled by a few doorways between. A seemingly lost but determined girl dodges jagged heels and scattered garments in a maze formation. It’s closet cleaning day. An activity that commences in my home at least every few months, this is the time when ever item is pulled from its place (or misplacement), steamed, sorted and either refreshed back into place or discarded for the girlfriends to sort through in the upcoming days. Summer has never felt warmer – and not in the temperature department (though that’s been quite pleasant as well). Every year brings tides of change, and this one has been filled with some of the brightest moments I can recall. The biggest blessing in life is being able to wake each morning eager to start the day, and I sincerely hope that each of you experience the same. And those days when you are able to see the light – soak up the sun and enjoy without looking back. In not-so-far history, I recall having days nearly impossible to rise, anxious for what the day might hold – and other mornings spent longing for just a moment of rest after 80 hour work weeks back-to-back. Yet somehow one of the most prominent contributing factors to this bright warm summer today is having come from those days of struggles past. We’ve all been there. The perfect outfit lined up hanging neatly on a rack, a beautiful (warm) slightly-overcast day that’s screaming “take photos” all leading up to… no photographer. The dread. And as many of you know, keeping up with a blog isn’t as easy as it looks… Hours can be spent poured over one post – and throw in a wrench like that – the blogging game can be seriously thrown out of whack. (If only we could clone ourselves…) With the viral video “Instagram Husband” I was forced a slight chuckle imagining so many similar scenarios in which I and my photographer had similarly sacrificed normal life for the sake of just the right shot. What would I do without him… sigh. Until that one day… he decides to go on vacation – and I am without him. The blog must go on, and though it was a bit of a challenge – I was able to put together some nice content during his 10 day getaway. The secret: check it out. Here …

The golden years are upon us, and not because of age, season, or any other reason – it’s here because we say it is. And as long as you believe that, those words will hold true. There is something beautiful to be grateful for in everyday if only you’re looking for it. And a positive attitude is 100% the pathway to get there. Though the balance of outlook can prove to be a challenge, and one I’ve far from mastered. Being positive without naivety, content without being complacent, careful without being anxious, being confident without airs. If you can find the sweet spot… teach me please? The black and white areas in life are easy, but the fine grey lines are an art to be mastered. A few goals for the year to keep things in perspective.
