what to pack for egypt

Traveling to Egypt? Here are 10 things to pack you won’t want to forget

Hello blogosphere. I’ve just returned from a short holiday in Cairo, Egypt with friend and founder of My Spontaneous Travel Diary. Egypt is a beautiful country, rich with old culture and peppered with new outlooks on the world. We took a 3 hour camel ride around the Giza Pyramids, toured some of the oldest mosques in the world, visited the remains of King Tut’s tomb in the Cairo Museum, and got up close and personal with the locals at the legendary Khan el-Khalili bazaar. photography: MY SPONTANEOUS TRAVEL DIARY | travel backpack c/o:HUNTING WORLD NYC | travel sandals: NAKED FEET SHOES Itinerary + what to do in Egypt: Nile dinner cruise with belly dancing and Tanoura show Giza Pyramids, City of the Dead and the Great Sphinx via camel ride The Citadel Mosque of Ahmad Ibn Tulun The Coptic Museum with King Tut’s exhibit Khan el-Khalili bazaar I could spend a lifetime describing each place from the sights and smells to the feel of the ancient stones beneath my fingertips. But before I get lost in the …

Goa beaches in India, what to expect

Planning a trip to the beaches of Goa, India? India has an extraordinary coastline, touching the borders of the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. It’s even home of some little known tropical island chains like the Nicobar Islands which I visited the shores of last year. However, navigating the best beaches for a tourist can prove to be a challenge, especially considering India’s more conservative standards for beach wear and spiked punch. The good news: If you know where to go, India’s beaches are a little slice of heaven. Having visited India nearly a half dozen times in the past few years, here are a few travel tips for Indian beach vacations I’ve learned along the way, and what you can expect when visiting the beaches of one of my latest travels in Goa, India. Soft white sand, a beach speckled with crabs and sea life, and an abundance of fresh coconuts nearly the price of a tootsie roll – the beaches of Goa don’t need much explaining to entice travelers from all over the world …

not the same as I was with you

Back where we started, and doin’ just fine. Change is in the water, and the water feels right. The sky is pale, and the faint smell of my packed sandwich is somehow suffocating. The train is in motion, and it’s moving fast – goodbye NYC, the journey back to where it started begins. The mood? Calm. Still like the water in the windless exterior on the other side of the glass. Out there it’s deceivingly cold, with only a faint chill creeping through the window sill. Song on repeat: Frenship’s Capsize. 8 hours left to go and I’ll once again be home. Catching up on notes from the week, sorting through holiday photos reliving time well spent. Giving in to the journey set before me, today and for the years to come. Contemplating life’s most recent twists and turns, and once again find myself facing uncertainty… but with open arms. photography:KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III |ootd c/o:LULU’S | luxury sterling silver and diamond jewelry c/o:MICHAEL HILL Change is inevitable. st. thomas virgin islands, suits on drinks up

Pop, and cheers all around. The first bottle of champaign spills bubbles onto the white deck. Laughter and chatter can be heard over the hum of the charter’s engine. The sea captain smiles as the group of merry toast to the day. Who knew ocean spray and champagne paired together so nicely. The sea had never looked so blue, and rocky islands and sandy shores specked the otherwise perfectly still waters in the distance. It was charter day. photography:KUNDAN KUMAR + KRISTINA PETRICK + SOME STOLEN FROM FRIENDS | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | swimwear c/o:NüN BANGKOK | activewear c/o:NüN BANGKOK | travel bag c/o:LO & SONS | cashmere travel blanket and eyemask c/o:MASON | laceup sandals c/o:OTBT Welcome to the travel blog recap of the Virgin Islands. A trip made during the peak traveling time (and by that I mean 1 week exactly prior to “in-season”). The early start to vacationing gave us the tropical world to explore on our own, with little traffic from other tourists in the area. We spend the week just …

what’s in the bag | shoot day edition

Happy near the end of the week fashion friends. In working with some amazing brands the past several weeks, I found it funny getting back into the mode of regular shoot-days to pack all the goodness in a short timeframe. In doing so, thought you guys might like to see what’s in the bag on shoot days. photography:KRISTINA PETRICK | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | leather travel tote c/o:DAGNE DOVER | water bottle c/o:TEATANK | sneakers:ADIDAS ORIGINALS | scarf c/o:LULUS | lipstick c/o:BITE BEAUTY | sunnies c/o:WYETH First matter of conversation, the bag itself. Just in from Dagne Dover, this beaut is a supple leather, multi-pocketed masterpiece of design. Why I love it? It has pockets. for. everything. iPad, laptop, cords, lipsticks, sunnies, phone – you name it. It has a place. In fact, it even has a nook for a water class or umbrella. Took it with my to NYC (and carried it around this very day) discovering that nook also makes a great carry area of cushion for a camera lens or other items …
