keep yourself in check

While 2020 continues to prove more uncertain by the day, it’s important for us to always challenge ourselves introspectively. If your actions, motivations, and state of being are not being lead by love, check yourself. Ask yourself why. Look at yourself, straight in the eyes, and determine what will drive you. What will motivate you. photography:JOSH WOLFE | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | check blazer:H&M | sunglasses c/o:SLOANE EYEWEAR | slip on shoes c/o:NAKED FEET We cannot force others to change, but we can lead by taking our own steps in the right direction. We can change the world, by changing ourselves. Find a quiet place, without distractions, and discover your own answers. While I love to travel the world, experience the hustle of city life, and discover new cultures… my quite place is serenity. Here in the mountains of Virginia, I’ve been able to let go, rediscover myself again and again, and choose for myself who I am. In a time of chaos, I encourage you to find a place where your soul refuels. …

Elizabethton Tennessee geese spring water river

serenity surrounded by natural springs in Elizabethton, TN

Serenity. If I could choose a single word, that would be it. A long weekend of promised exile from a chaotic world came into fruition like the first budding trees of the season. Welcome to Elizabethton, TN, a quaint town of old southern American history. Once a buzzing capital of American government, the city has reached a pleasant lull just off the banks of the Doe River. That’s where we spent the last two days… booking a homestead retreat just outside the local buzz of the historical city center. Known for its water resources and renewable energy, the rivers flow with fresh spring water that’s distributed more than any other water system in the entire state of Tennessee. That’s where we spent the best of our time. Soaking up the early spring sunshine at Covered Bridge Park overlooking the Doe River. Teaming with geese and swans, the wildlife seemed know just how good life was in such pure, tranquil waters. The sound of the clearest waters trickling over smooth river stones competed only with that …

what it means to just let go

Darkness covers the earth, at least for those hours surrounding the work day. Every gym parking lot is full to capacity. Cliché post holiday routines are unavoidable. Keto, intermittent fasting, dry January… It’s the new year. And with it, is born a sense of motivation, purpose and the possibility of a new, brighter future. photography:JOSH WOLFE | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III   Type A and enneagram one… I know it’s overplayed. Yet, I cannot ignore the chance to re-organize and strive for something new. I don’t force myself into fad diets or a new gym routine (though perhaps I should). Instead, at the start of each year I construct a new way of seeing the world. I challenge my natural way of thinking, and strive to connect with a new reality as the world around me continues to evolve. The universe changes. People change. We all change. If we cannot examine ourselves and decide to change, we will be lost in a world of the past. We will forget who we are. Time will trample …

rosemary beach summer home

the most perfect day at Rosemary Beach, Florida

Just be. Sit. Inhale. Exhale with your entire body so that it can refill on nothing but the sea-filled air. This is the moment you’ve been holding your breath for. A single wisp of cloud moves ever so slowly with the late summer breeze in our exclusive private residence club in rosemary beach. The sound of waves crashing is all that breaks the silence. Welcome to Panama City Beach, Florida. Not quite the tourist trap as Miami, not the cultural experience of Bali or Costa Rica. Only simple, uncomplicated beauty lies on the horizon. This place is one to relax. It is the time to enjoy a moment of complete stillness. A small entourage of comrades join together to enjoy this extended weekend getaway. We’re all here for the same reason. Where the beach is, happiness ensues. At that bliss is all that fills our hearts. We dreamt up this moment for what feels like an eternity. The 5-day sanctuary from our daily lives has begun. The escape to the beach was a success, and …

where the wind meets the waves

Two mighty forces meeting face to face where the waves break against the sky. The salty ocean spray leaps into the air, glinting in the sun, dancing in the light before crashing back down into the depths. They are swallowed once again there, only the surface left gleaming in the sun. Alone, the sea is a mighty force and knows no master. She tosses and turns playfully with the tides. She holds the power of balance, giving herself to be carried in the clouds of the sky to rain down on an earth desperate for life. She is home to beasts and beauty, holding countless mysteries impossible to discover. Her current sweeps away forgotten memories, restoring them with a new canvas every night tide across the sandy beaches. She challenges the earth itself. They meet in form of a cliff jutting from the depths to the sky. It’s breathtaking really. A precipice that stands as a wall between worlds. A rush consumes your soul and leaves you gulping in air if you dare stand on …

luxury fashion blogger travels to costa rica

Costa Rica sunshine and the true meaning of luxury

Something about the sun warms not only our skin, but also the soul. Hello blog world. The last couple of months have taken me to Nashville, Vegas, Atlanta, Milan, Lugano, and Costa Rica. Wrapping up an intense travel season, I have a moment to reflect on the adventures had and memories made. Here’s another snippet from Costa Rica – an annual international travel tradition with myself and a few friends. photography:JOSH WOLFE MUSIC | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | denim shorts:LEVI | location:VILLA TRANQUILA, COSTA RICA Each year, we choose a new destination where we enjoy all of the local food, sights and leisure we can soak up in 10 days. Each a true luxury to experience, this was no exception. Our caravan of 18 companions flew into San Jose, where we spent a night at a resort enjoying late night bites, a local casino, and a night view of the tropical poolside. The stop was quick, as the earliest shuttle transported us to the beaches of Tamarindo early the next morning. With such a …

what to pack for egypt

Traveling to Egypt? Here are 10 things to pack you won’t want to forget

Hello blogosphere. I’ve just returned from a short holiday in Cairo, Egypt with friend and founder of My Spontaneous Travel Diary. Egypt is a beautiful country, rich with old culture and peppered with new outlooks on the world. We took a 3 hour camel ride around the Giza Pyramids, toured some of the oldest mosques in the world, visited the remains of King Tut’s tomb in the Cairo Museum, and got up close and personal with the locals at the legendary Khan el-Khalili bazaar. photography: MY SPONTANEOUS TRAVEL DIARY | travel backpack c/o:HUNTING WORLD NYC | travel sandals: NAKED FEET SHOES Itinerary + what to do in Egypt: Nile dinner cruise with belly dancing and Tanoura show Giza Pyramids, City of the Dead and the Great Sphinx via camel ride The Citadel Mosque of Ahmad Ibn Tulun The Coptic Museum with King Tut’s exhibit Khan el-Khalili bazaar I could spend a lifetime describing each place from the sights and smells to the feel of the ancient stones beneath my fingertips. But before I get lost in the …

Goa beaches in India, what to expect

Planning a trip to the beaches of Goa, India? India has an extraordinary coastline, touching the borders of the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. It’s even home of some little known tropical island chains like the Nicobar Islands which I visited the shores of last year. However, navigating the best beaches for a tourist can prove to be a challenge, especially considering India’s more conservative standards for beach wear and spiked punch. The good news: If you know where to go, India’s beaches are a little slice of heaven. Having visited India nearly a half dozen times in the past few years, here are a few travel tips for Indian beach vacations I’ve learned along the way, and what you can expect when visiting the beaches of one of my latest travels in Goa, India. Soft white sand, a beach speckled with crabs and sea life, and an abundance of fresh coconuts nearly the price of a tootsie roll – the beaches of Goa don’t need much explaining to entice travelers from all over the world …

not the same as I was with you

Back where we started, and doin’ just fine. Change is in the water, and the water feels right. The sky is pale, and the faint smell of my packed sandwich is somehow suffocating. The train is in motion, and it’s moving fast – goodbye NYC, the journey back to where it started begins. The mood? Calm. Still like the water in the windless exterior on the other side of the glass. Out there it’s deceivingly cold, with only a faint chill creeping through the window sill. Song on repeat: Frenship’s Capsize. 8 hours left to go and I’ll once again be home. Catching up on notes from the week, sorting through holiday photos reliving time well spent. Giving in to the journey set before me, today and for the years to come. Contemplating life’s most recent twists and turns, and once again find myself facing uncertainty… but with open arms. photography:KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III |ootd c/o:LULU’S | luxury sterling silver and diamond jewelry c/o:MICHAEL HILL Change is inevitable.
