faded

The elephant keeps walking as the dogs keep barking.

Something they don’t teach you in business class. This adage from India came from my partner in crime, and I will continue to keep the words in heart. With the growth of success, comes an onslaught of negativity. And no, I’m not talking about constructive criticism that helps you grow. I’m talking about the truly nasty, nonfactual, and unprofessional based nagging and manipulation of situations with seemingly no purpose or cause. You’ve probably worked with a few such people in your life, and if you continue to grow in a path of success, you can probably expect a lot more. While the spirit’s first reaction may be to reflect the attitude, the best advise I’ve received: The elephant keeps walking as the dogs keep barking.

The fact of the matter is, you’ll never be able to train the dogs. Instead, an elephant walks steadily through the streets, seemingly unaffected by the barking around them. Focus on your goals and how to achieve them. The rest around you, is just noise fading away.

Speaking of faded, no it’s not the lighting playing tricks on you. I got these joggers from Parker Smith with a neat ombre finish from leather-look to denim. As much as I do love a basic jean, it’s about time something fun got thrown into the mix. Styled mostly monochrome, they add a bit of edge to something otherwise understated. Anyone else happy joggers are acceptable business casual attire these days? #theyfeellikepajamas #comfyallday

Playing with shadows. The light hit the fade line just right in this shot. Special thanks to my photographer for not only always being on point, but also for many words of advise, and spending a great deal of his free time either photographing for dimd, or listening to me talk about it. #yourethebest Give your special person behind the camera some extra love today, they deserve more credit than they get!

Here’s to another incredible week. And no matter the situation, may all the noise in your life fade into the background.

Amazing outfit, I love your ‘ombre’ jeans! I definitely agree with what you wrote, you should only care about the criticism that helps you grow, not the comments of people who just wanna see you fail!

  2. Love this look and especially those faded pants / jeans thingies (sorry for this incredible stupid word). I also wanted to let you know that usually I am not the biggest reader of blogs and more look at the photos but with your blog I always stop and read everything because I really love our writing!

  3. You do this fancy-casual look fantastically! And you know my stance on joggers–yes, yes, and yes. Your advice to “let the noise fade” paired with the simplicity of these photos is just perfect, love your posts always.

I like the imagery painted by the words expressed by this saying, thank you for sharing it with me, Kristina. LOVE THIS. Who made the jacket? Nice and simple. Looks functional too (like it can be worn closed), which is for some reason rare for a denim jacket.
