missing pieces

Made it through another semi-annual closet purging! #isurvived holy. crap. I have way too much stuff. Thank you to my girlfriends who helped migrate a few things into their own closets. As for the rest… Goodwill here I come. It’s always a good reminder to spend more on good basics, and ditch buying the froo-froo stuff. Better things last forever. (darn you TJMaxx and your seasonal sales… yeah I know, I’ll be back next weekend. sorry. love you.) Always finding the most incredible closet inspirations online, and can only dream of one day having nice enough (and few enough) pieces to organize it in such a way that I’d just as soon have a cocktail party in there as store my clothes. Guess I’ll just keep dreaming. In the spirit of basics, got down to the most simple (and never failing) combination. Black jeans. White T. You know those days you spend up to your last 30 seconds before you’re late for work trying on every single thing in your wardrobe with “nothing to wear”… Those last …

say you’ll remember me

Walked into the grocery store this weekend to the welcoming aroma of freshly brewed, pumpkin spice latte, only to discover on my way out that it was actually perfumed pinecones… who came up with this madness?! While usually apprehensive of the changing of the seasons (hey fall fans… did you forget that WINTER comes next??)… this year I actually find myself quite ready for the cool morning air. Feels like a fresh start every day. Plus, I have been eying my growing stack of knit sweaters that I’m dying to get into. So much so, that I would actually feel a bit deceitful if I did not also share with you, that I am currently wearing said sweater – even though outdoors should reach the mid-eighties today. Hey – it’s cool in the air conditioning. #dontjudge White after Labor Day? Bring it on. (I just realized all of my paragraphs begin with “W” today… weird) Wearing a new top from Danice Stores that was a total steal, and layering on the white for fall transition. Fashion rules are made to …

hold me

Up next, WWDMagic (Vegas brace yourself… here I come) Though the show has not yet begun, I’ve allowed myself a slight sigh of relief, as our heavy lifting for August show prep is now coming to an end. The past several weeks have been a total rush, and despite the dwindling post-it note collection on my desk, it’s always a challenge to let go of the anxiety of projects and deadlines, and allowing the seeping need for rest to take it’s place. September?… yeah, I’ll be in bed. Though travel is my passion, the epitome of comfort is being home – in my wrinkled sheets, with nothing better to do than sip coffee, idly flipping through pages in a book or binge watching Netflix for hours. There was once a place surrounding my childhood home – so quite – you could walk for hours and never see a car or another living soul. That peace, the stillness, no sound aside from your own beating heart and the wind flicking through the trees – that is home. Welcome to a glimpse of what that looks like today. Something about a …

follow me

The tones here were softened from the burst of colors in the rest of India. It’s as if the city gave off a radiance of soft tenderness. A sort of pearl itself, amidst a palace of jewels. Checking-in to Jaipur. Known for the architectural beauty of it’s cities, temples, forts,.. and pearls. The photos capture a mixture of Amber Fort (which we actually toured twice – once on foot, once on elephant!) as well as a stop along the water palace known as Jal Mahal. One of the most beautiful cities I have ever experienced. The pink city has an ordinance that no building can be painted any other color – which leant the city to a sort of dreamy, ethereal fervor. Attempting to be a minimalist in a country of color. Found this snow white traditional Indian kurta and salwar at a local market, along with the silver rings. a minimalist somedays

If you follow this blog regularly, you probably already know I’m a huge fan of minimalistic blogs Modern Legacy and Love Aesthetics (to name just a couple). The crisp aesthetics with a stark contrast in monochrome schemes makes my heart skip – and I can’t look away. The minimalist community has always held a part of me captive. From living in micro houses, to a deliberate constriction in wardrobe and lifestyle – it’s really quite beautifully fascinating. And, I’ve given the thought of conversion some serious consideration. I imagine the metamorphose as an enlightening experience, shedding past burdens, and flooding life with new meaning – transcending the old into a more pure version of oneself. Rebirth. Then I realize I’d have to get rid of all of my stuff… I’ll settle with being a minimalist somedays. And few of my favorite stuffs being worked on the blog today. These new Denimocracy skinnies with an insane amount of stretch make these a new staple item (even if I was a minimalist). Made in CA, and probably one of the most comfortable items I own – you’ll …

i dream of the sea

Some dream of love, life, money, success… I dream of the sea. Something about the sound of the crashing waves, endless horizon, and the taste of warm salt on the air. I could stay in that place forever without end. Such a calm, quiet feeling of surrealism that sets in over my whole being. Wearing my first purchase from Madewell. Not my key-identifying brand, but amongst their earthy-boho pieces, they do have some nice minimal items in their collection as well. And true to their word, the denim pieces do really have an exceptional fit. photography:KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | top:MADEWELL | jeans:MADEWELL | cuffs:THPSHOP | slides:MADELINE

blank slate

Recently returned from a 3 week tour of the far east, and arrived back in the U.S. to find the trees budding, and a warm breath on the air. Ready for a fresh start into the new season, and excited to begin sharing the most recent bout about the globe with you babes. First stop – China. Actually let me take that back… after canceled flights and a number of delays, Chicago ended up being the first night – and just avoided San Fran the night after. American Airlines – you’re currently on my bad side. So with the time cut from the trip – China was barely a whisper on the wind. Wearing a Spring collection Zara one-piece that was easy and office appropriate. New THPSHOP cuff was the butter on the bread. The set was a gift from myself… big girls gotta treat themselves sometimes xoxo photography:KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | dress:ZARA | cuffs:THPSHOP | slides:MADELINE
