casual minimalist sneakers

casual sport sneaker style

Kick back and let your hair down, summer is here and it’s time to squeeze the most enjoyment out of each day. There are so many experiences possible in life’s journey, and I plan to take as many as possible. So many times we get caught up in daily routine and forget to spend time relaxing or getting out to explore the world. Instead, have a mindset of get-up-and-go with a no-excuse attitude for getting stuck in the rut. So far so good with days spent poolside, mini trips to D.C., VA beach, NYC and beyond. What’s on your jetset list for the summer? Don’t make excuses of why next weekend might be better… GO! photography:KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | slip-on slacks c/o:FABRIZIO GIANNI | leatherette top c/o:THE RUSHING HOUR (30% off with code: dayinmydreams30 ) | saddle bag c/o:DESIGUAL | purse pom pom c/o:LUXE BLOGGER | casual sport sneakers c/o:WINDSOR SMITH Nothing makes me feel more relaxed and ready to go than casual sneaker style that lets me run as fast as my feet will take me. …

the golden years

The golden years are upon us, and not because of age, season, or any other reason – it’s here because we say it is. And as long as you believe that, those words will hold true. There is something beautiful to be grateful for in everyday if only you’re looking for it. And a positive attitude is 100% the pathway to get there. Though the balance of outlook can prove to be a challenge, and one I’ve far from mastered. Being positive without naivety, content without being complacent, careful without being anxious, being confident without airs. If you can find the sweet spot… teach me please? The black and white areas in life are easy, but the fine grey lines are an art to be mastered. A few goals for the year to keep things in perspective. What IS black and white on the other hand… this #ootd (well black, white and gold that is). Wearing slides for the first time of the season, and I must say – it feels fabulous. Literally. My feet love you Clarks, and …

dark in white

There’s hardly a moment in life that goes by without the slightest mix of emotions. I know I ordered chocolate ice cream, but that black cherry swirl is looking pretty good… I do like these shoes, I’m just wondering if I should have worn flats… all white, or black bag… yeah I do feel like going out tonight, but Netflix and chill is sounding pretty alright as well… you get the drift. When there are so many beautiful futures in our horizon, it’s sometimes difficult to choose the “right” path. (and yes, I’m assuming all futures are beautiful at this point). As my brother has said, “In my life, every day is a holiday, and every meal is a feast.” I’m a pretty indecisive person by nature. This was not one of those days. Feeling firmly confident in the day’s choices both in wardrobe and life choices in general – I went out the door running forward with guns blazing. All sweetly white from Salient Label with Public Desire dark black strap pumps to offset …

confident

Demi Lovato’s “Confident” stuck in my head. Holy girl-power… if that’s not enough to get you strutting your stuff this weekend, not sure what will. The past week has been spent in mindful debate over a new direction in my working carrier. When you come to a crux in life, it can be difficult to be confident that, (within the rush of emotions and opportunities) the decision you make will be the best one. But more than right or wrong, it’s most important that when you do make the choice, you stick to it with guns blazing. No one can predict the future, but you can wield the direction of the day with your choices. So here’s to being confident that today will be your day, and you will live it boldly. photography:KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:NIKON D90 | silk blouse:VINCE | skirt c/o:DIARIO DE UNA COUTURIER | luggage set:TUMI | shoes c/o:CLARKS | stack rings c/o:K D’ANGELO With a fresh working mindset – and this totally beautiful new luggage set gifted to me by a good friend Manish, the feeling of …

just when things were getting interesting

Enjoyed a bit of unorthodox leisure time last week. Between checking off some of those dusty to-do’s and enjoying a couple evenings over a glass of wine (and by a glass, yes… I do mean bottle), I was also also able to catch the flick Kingsman. Antiquated as the concept may be, I can’t get enough of the gentleman = lethal spy plot. Guys, in case you haven’t figured it out yet – suits are to women, as lingerie is to men. We find it attractive when you at least look like you’ve got your sh** together. And really, if you can’t bear to get out of your stained collage T and torn jeans on occasion, just bear this in mind: you don’t wear it, neither will we. #yourenotthebossofme #unlessyoulooklikeone Something about leather pants aways does it for me. missing pieces

Made it through another semi-annual closet purging! #isurvived holy. crap. I have way too much stuff. Thank you to my girlfriends who helped migrate a few things into their own closets. As for the rest… Goodwill here I come. It’s always a good reminder to spend more on good basics, and ditch buying the froo-froo stuff. Better things last forever. (darn you TJMaxx and your seasonal sales… yeah I know, I’ll be back next weekend. sorry. love you.) Always finding the most incredible closet inspirations online, and can only dream of one day having nice enough (and few enough) pieces to organize it in such a way that I’d just as soon have a cocktail party in there as store my clothes. Guess I’ll just keep dreaming. In the spirit of basics, got down to the most simple (and never failing) combination. Black jeans. White T. You know those days you spend up to your last 30 seconds before you’re late for work trying on every single thing in your wardrobe with “nothing to wear”… Those last …

a minimalist somedays

If you follow this blog regularly, you probably already know I’m a huge fan of minimalistic blogs Modern Legacy and Love Aesthetics (to name just a couple). The crisp aesthetics with a stark contrast in monochrome schemes makes my heart skip – and I can’t look away. The minimalist community has always held a part of me captive. From living in micro houses, to a deliberate constriction in wardrobe and lifestyle – it’s really quite beautifully fascinating. And, I’ve given the thought of conversion some serious consideration. I imagine the metamorphose as an enlightening experience, shedding past burdens, and flooding life with new meaning – transcending the old into a more pure version of oneself. Rebirth. Then I realize I’d have to get rid of all of my stuff… I’ll settle with being a minimalist somedays. And few of my favorite stuffs being worked on the blog today. These new Denimocracy skinnies with an insane amount of stretch make these a new staple item (even if I was a minimalist). Made in CA, and probably one of the most comfortable items I own – you’ll …

have a scentsational week

Good morning friends. 6:39am EST, and I’ve been lurking about my house for the past couple of hours. A new habit of mine that presents itself during nights at random… Insomnia. And I’ve got to admit… I love it. Before you assume I’ve gone completely mad (which is probably the case)… It happened first when I was under a particular amount of pressure from my big girl job. So much to do, so little time. My body was so angst, it fought sleep until I conceded around 3:30am. Instead of allowing those bitchy jittery feelings pulse through my horizontal being, I got up (brilliant) and began trudging around the house, catching up on laundry, freelance projects, pending to-do’s, and yes – even the blog. Those few extra hours were surprisingly mad productive (apparently the zombie version of myself has exceeding work ethics) – and by my “usual” morning time, I felt so accomplished; the strain of the day had vanished. And a day began with a positive outlook and a clear mind, made tackling that extra load at the office a breeze. Plus… with nothing left needed to …
