Looking for last minute Christmas gift ideas? This completely un-sponsored gift guide is a curated selection of essential basics that will become the new obsessions for everyone on your list. There are some luxury basics that everyone needs. Having managed a luxury fashion blog for years, I have had the unique opportunity of testing out hundreds of brands. Every year I shortlist my absolute favorites to help you (and myself) shop for the holidays.
These are beautiful, high quality gifts that have been personally tested, tried. Even for those who seem to have everything, Here are 12 essential basics I have used, loved, gifted and highly recommend for the holiday gifting season (or to gift yourself!).
Mejuri fine gold jewelry
Gold jewelry may just be the biggest fashion trend of 2019 and 2020. Since silver has dominated in years past, it’s a great gift for those who might want to update their jewelry assortment. Mejuri produces handcrafted fine jewelry that can be worn for occasions or every day with low, transparent markups and a limited-edition collection. They were recently featured on Vogue’s best gifts under $100, and definitely make Day in my dream’s top recommendations for gift ideas.

Replica come hither perfumes
For those of you I’ve met in person, you know I don’t leave the house without a spritz of Replica perfume, by Maison Margiela. I’ve received countless compliments, gifted them to fiends, and even had a couple bottles stolen by even closer friends (who know they can get away with it). I would recommend a scent, but honestly each one is a whiff of luxury in its own unique way.
BITE organic lipstick and lip treatments
BITE cosmetics is an all natural approach to beauty with a policy that what goes on your lips, should be as natural and good as what goes in your mouth. Their all organic products are highly moisturizing and nourishing, making them not only beautiful, but good for your lips too.
I’ve loved and reviewed their matte lipsticks and pencils, lip glosses and more. I use them on occasions when I’m looking to add a pop of color, and use the BITE balm everyday as the only moisturizer deep enough to keep me from chapped lips, even in the winter.
Dé Rococo essential minimalist denim
Who loves supporting entrepreneurs? One of my favorite bloggers, @de_rococo just launched her own line of true, non-stretch denim called Dé Rococo. She sent me a pair of her jeans to try, and they are no doubt my new everyday black jean essential. If you love Levis and traditional cut true-denim styles, please check her out. You will love the fit, material and attention to detail.

Commando ultra-stretchy bodysuits
Another item often coveted by friends, Commando makes a great bodysuit. Why? They’re so, so stretchy… but still thick enough you can wear them without a bra, and without fear of transparency issues. I’ve worn mine nearly to death, and plan to keep them in my capsule wardrobe for the rest of my days. This is a great gift idea for someone who has everything (who can’t use a new, better fitted bodysuit).
Elemis advanced science meets super foods skin care
I was new to trying Elemis skincare this year, and surely you’ve seen their ads on social media. Their approach is leveraging powerful natural superfoods and ingredients, along with the latest scientific developments for skin-altering care. I must say, it worked, and they smell fantastic. I have tried (and completely used) the moisturizing pro-collagen face mask, day cream, night cream, and serum. All worth giving a try yourself for anti-aging, and certainly a great Christmas gift idea.
Anne Fontaine essential white blouse
A white blouse is an essential in a minimalist, capsule wardrobe… or any wardrobe for that matter. This is an item I’ve purchased several times from other brands only to be disappointed about the fabric, fit, or they way they wash up. Anne Fontaine blouses are perfect. I’ve worn mine as a beach cover, work staple, or just around the house.
This gift is a no-brainer for the working woman. If you want more ideas, you can check out my Anne Fontaine gift guide on their site here, or read the blog review featuring Anne Fontaine holiday style. I’ve also created an in-season Anne Fontaine edit of beautiful transitional wardrobe pieces you can shop here. They have the essential basics everyone needs, and silhouettes with something a little extra special that you know will be unique.

Status Anxiety buttery, luxury leather handbags
Have a handbag girl on your list? Status Anxiety crafts beautiful leather bags for men and women. All I can say is, their leather is absolute butter, and extremely high quality. I’ve torn mine through airports, errands and everywhere in between, and they not only receive compliments, they’ve withheld the test of time and wear. Confession… I have more than 5-6 pieces from their collection.
David Lerner essential leather leggings
Another wardrobe essential, leather leggings aren’t going out anytime soon. With so many on the market, it’s tough to find a pair that has a flattering cut, washes well, and doesn’t look cheap. I now own 3 pairs of David Lerner leather leggings in my wardrobe, and all are on repeat. I’ve had some of my close friends purchase them as well, and all have been equally impressed with the quality and look. David Lerner is the essential for this wardrobe staple.
Allsaints must-have leather biker jacket
If you really want to spoil someone with a truly essential luxury fashion piece, give them the gift of a leather motto jacket. Everyone wants one, all too many people wear pleather. Allsaints is by far the leather in leather jackets, and they will wear it for years to come. My Balfern jacket is going on 3 years, and has gone through wear 3+ times a week since I’ve had it.

Charlotte Tilbury gift packaged beauty
Want to give the gift of beauty? Charlotte Tilbury is taking over the beauty scene, offering an assortment of makeup and skincare essentials. Their mission is to empower women to be creative and beautiful in their own way as an art form. They’ve got some great pre-assorted packages all ready for the holidays, and their products are excellent. Packaging is also beautiful, which is a perk during the gifting season.
Just Simple innovative power bank
Last but not least, I was able to participate in the crowd-funded launch of Just Simple power banks. This power bank is great for men or women who don’t collect stuff, but do live a life on the go. It packs a long battery life that can charge your phone, laptop, iPad and more… all at once! It’s truly innovative, and I was so excited to see them double their original financing goals in a matter of days.
I hope this list of essential luxury basics helps you shop for the holidays (or find some essentials for yourself!). I have used each and every one on repeat, and they’re all items I have personally recommend to friends and family. They’re the products that you use and re-use over and over, and add a little bit of luxury to everyday.
