Orange crisp leaves mingle with late-summer buds. The very air seems warm in hue. Mid-day still brings out freckles and sun-kissed cheeks, while midnight brings chills and firefly lights. September has arrived, and with it the first signs of fall. A late summer has kept roses and purple blossoms in full bloom, but they won’t last for long. If you could bottle it all and pour its essence into a collection of wearable luxuries, you’d experience the Anne Fontaine pre-fall collection.
Speckled with potpourri floral prints and exquisite fabrics, Anne Fontaine’s line of luxury fashion pieces are a treat for the romantic at heart. Burnt orange, blush and lavender hues compliment their wardrobe staples of black and white day-to-night essentials. Full lace and artisanal embroidery grace modern, feminine silhouettes.
This season, a flair of Parisian style can be seen in the collection of dreamy blouses and flowing dresses. French Parisian style has become a notable summer and fall fashion trend this year. I was thrilled to see Anne Fontaine’s rendition. Rooted in high quality luxury basics, the trend incorporates repeat essentials peppered with feminine seasonal splurges that can be worn different ways through creative layering.
Cinched necklines, frilled colors, and layered sleeves are some of the thoughtful details that bring the pieces to life. A treat to the eyes and to the touch, it is a tantalizing array well suited for the evolution of French bohemian style.
You may remember my guide to effortless luxury showcasing Anne Fontaine’s holiday collection, or the recap on the dark romantic mood of Anne Fontaine’s previous winter collections. I closely follow their transformations season-to-season, and it’s quite possible this may be my favorite transition yet.
While I have always valued the quality and versatility of their basic white shirt collection (I wear mine weekly), the new collection is a very lightened rendition on their timeless style. Sheer materials, lace insets and flowing lines grace each piece in a sort of poetic fashion.
These pieces are great for layering and piecing together in a modern boho fashion that seems to extend the summer weeks, even if it’s just in our minds. In ode to the launch, I have partnered with Anne Fontaine to create an edit of my personal top picks for the season.
Inside the Anne Fontaine x day in my dreams collection, you’ll discover luxury fashion essential pieces like the classic Anne Fontaine blouses and tailored trousers that I wear regularly for business occasions. In addition this year, I’ve selected favorite fall Parisian blouses, wrapped tops, accessories and a golden pleated skirt that literally feels like the definition of luxury.
Each piece is unique and special, and I can truly say it felt like an experience just wearing them for a day. Shooting on the rooftops of my hometown in Virginia, I decided to style it a bit in my own flair.
Tucked lightly and open at the neck, the first look features a front tie blouse is feather-weight, and the breeze lent to caressing my skin softly with each movement. Worn together, the look with tailored loafers lent to a very French Parisian style, deliberately offset by an Americana bohemian hat for a touch of shade in the late summer sun.
The second look is how I dreamt the skirt would evolve into later fall. Coffee in hand I could almost taste the first touch of autumn air. A remnant of mid-summer days, a fading tan allowed for just the right amount of exposure under an off-shoulder lace blouse.
How lovely are these sleeves? Trimmed with black velvet ribbons, the piece is both delicate and robust. It is the perfect romantic style evolution from summer to fall – as well as a great first piece addition into a holiday collection.
With the wind at my back and no place to go, this year’s Anne Fontaine experience was a retreat into fall. It’s perfect for now, and perfect for styling into the next season. Which pieces will I continue to carry on as new lifestyle essentials?
Time will tell, but this is a beautiful start. Browse the rest of the collection for a preview on what the new season will bring. Luxury awaits. I’ll see you there.
