living lighter with less

’Til 2022, a deep desire for “less” has continued to well up in my being. Perhaps partially driven by a complex, heavy world around us. Simplicity is uncomplicated peace, and excess is no more than baggage. I’ve applied this not only to a more capsule approach to my wardrobe, but throughout my home and life as well. It’s become easier and easier to let go of the baggage that builds up with time, and more and more rewarding as the piles of unneeded disappear leaving more time to kick back and enjoy what you have. Not only in things which are material, but also in matters of the mind.    We are a generation of over thinkers. Of excess, and emotional weights we carry with us throughout our lives. It’s a new year, and it’s time to eliminate and reduce baggage – physically, mentally and emotionally. The cause and effect is simple, with less, we are lighter. With less burdens, we can stand up straighter. We become free to pursue what makes us truly happy without …

preppy or minimalist, loafers are the new footwear essentials

Love it or hate it, if fashion is your thing, you already know chunky loafers are the minimalist must-have shoes of the season. This confident 90’s it girl style made a huge comeback in 2021, being paired with minimalist and preppy outfits alike. The good news, if you’re late on the trend, it’s not too late to grab a pair. Loafers are going to be around for a while, forecasted to continue through next year after being spotted littering the 2022 spring runways. Why we love them? While sneakers have made their debut the past several seasons as the comfortable essential while working from home, it’s feeling like time to mix it up a bit. We’re back in the office, and we’re having fun dressing for the occasion once again. That being said, we’ve gotten a little spoiled being in our comfies 24/7. Loafers offer the perfect solution – a tailored style that can be worn with casual minimalist office essentials, or dressed up true to the 90’s for those re-embracing fashion with open arms.  …

modern suiting trends | the skirt suit

Skirt suits aren’t new. They’ve been around since the 19th century, when women wore tailored jackets with long skirts for riding and archery, and we still see equestrian inspired details in the hottest suiting trends of today.  All that to say, skirt suits been a preppy wardrobe staple that isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, and sure to continue as one of the most popular fashion trends season after season. However with time, trends do evolve as the next generation takes their stab at the classics. If you’re looking for your next skirt suit that embodies the new era of preppy style, here’s what you should look for.  Our skirts are getting shorter Say hello to a little leg as our bottom coordinates cut off a few inches in thigh grazing minis this season. Midis may be in when you’re rocking your 90’s trends, but when it comes to suiting this FW21-22, prepare to bare some skin. The mini oozes feminine poise Jackie O’ style (ok maybe even a little shorter). But don’t get to caught …

Fall is steadily underway, and if you haven’t shopped for your key pieces for the season yet, get ready for these to be your new everyday essentials that you’ll be able to continue wearing through the cold winter months and into early spring.  If you’re trying to maintain a more minimalist capsule wardrobe (like myself), bear in mind you don’t need to adopt every trend, but rather, should select the pieces you know you’ll be able to integrate into multiple looks throughout the season and beyond. These pieces are all fresh and modern, yet versatile and timeless classics, so with a little creativity you should be able to remix them with your current wardrobe into countless outfits you’ll be able to wear for months to come.  The chunky loafer Thanks to the return of 90’s preppy fashion trends, the loafer is back in a big way. Wear them with all of your preppy looks from suiting to skirts and denim. What to look for: sleek minimalist uppers or uppers with subtle details like cozy shearling …

all we need is time

The sunset was reflecting a spectrum if iridescent hues in the traffic paint. A softened depiction of the vibrant sky above. That’s when I knew I was dreaming again. And what a feeling. Like a cool spray of sea quenching a desert soul.  I have learned a lot during this past year of accosted endeavors and ceaseless pursuits. The most life changing of which – work can be the most devastating sabotage of progress if it consumes time beyond its purpose.  We should all pursue growth. Attack life with ferocity that overcomes challenges, and discipline ourselves enough to accomplish even the most arduous tasks. But, we must never let that consume us. Or else, you risk losing everything – even the outcome you so earnestly pursued from the start.  We are all human. As such, we’ve been created with an innate desire to learn and grow. But, when we channel our vision, we loose sight of the inspiration around us. We forget to breath. We don’t pause to listen, to learn.  There’s a point where pursuit …

typology paris review | personalized skincare with all natural, simple ingredients

As some of you may know, I’m quite particular as to what I put on my skin. Skincare is so critical, and ensuring well moisturized, pampered skin can keep you young for years. I’ve recently found a skincare routine that I’m quite fond of, but I’m also on ever on the lookout for new and interesting brands and products, while trying to manage a minimal “inventory” of my favorite products to support a more minimalist lifestyle. When Typology reached out offering a personalized skincare regiment, with products that contained as little as 5 ingredients, I couldn’t refuse. A few months later, after I’ve had the chance to consistently use the products for several weeks, and wanted to share this Typology Paris review. Before we begin, let’s talk about how and why the future of skincare and beauty is all about personalization. As consumers increasingly seek out beauty solutions suited to their specific needs, there has never been a greater need for personalization. Everyone has unique skin, so why create products that only tailor to one …

today’s outfit inspo: the sweater vest

No filters, no effects, today’s actual outfit. After putting some thought into what I want to see @dayinmydreams represent this fall as a minimalist and luxury fashion blog, I want to share more real life moments and fashion that isn’t just styled for a feed, but styled for life. Today is one of my last work from home days, before I return to the office full time as marketing director of CSC. while most of this year has been a blur, I’ll tell you my 8-5 work from home style has been essentially loungewear with a blazer thrown over top. That’s about to change as we return to the office, and I have to admit, I’m a bit excited for the shift in gears. Lots coming for fall. Just published this fall’s trend report on key styles we’re seeing from around the globe. Get ready for a continuation of preppy sophisticates, as well as an emergence of nature-inspired trends – largely rooted in sustainability. You can check out the full fall trend report here. With October right …

trending now: comfy bralettes that double as micro crop tops

With the days getting longer and the air getting warmer, summer fashion trends are officially on the radar. If previous summers have taught me anything, it’s that the classic crop top isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. We knew crop tops were going to play a big role in 2021, and we knew they were going to be tiny. Many trends are redefined season after season, but with the crop top it is more like reinvented. Designs may come and go, but the crop top is here to stay. The perk: they’re casual, cool and one of the most versatile pieces in your wardrobe. What’s new in crop top trends for 2021 One statement: they just keep getting shorter. Dare to go bare? The bra top (aka micro crop top) is the new crop top for 2021. Skin is in, and body positivity is here to stay. Crops have evolved from showing a hint of mid-drift to downright running out in your skivvies. And truthfully, something about it feels quite liberating. Plus, there’s a style for …

b.tempt’d review | intimates for every woman and every occasion

Wispy laces, modern silhouettes. I had been in need of an intimates refresh, and this season’s updates came with all of the upgrades one could desire. While fashion selects are often redefined each season, one must never forget to keep their underthings in order. There’s something empowering in being completely put together. For me, that starts from body to soul, and each layer that we choose to dress ourselves in. In this b.tempt’d review, I will touch on an assortment of essential pieces that I’ve integrated into my lingerie collection, and how each serves a different purpose in my personal and professional lifestyle. First, let’s talk about some key elements every woman should consider when selecting their delicates – fashion and function When wearing bras, both comfort and style must be considered. I can be quite utilitarian with my fashion choices. Managing 80-hour work weeks in fashion marketing while also maintaining a luxury fashion blog requires thoughtful fashion choices that are not only in vogue, but also functional. I need to be able to power …
