coffee addiction on the go

A life of traveling and a severe coffee addiction can be a serious struggle of competition at times. Living in VA and working in NYC has been one of life’s greatest adventures. Arriving to my Airbnb after an 8 hour train ride to realize there is no coffee pot in the apt – the opposite of life’s greatest adventures. Expanding to new things in the new year – this is the first of many lifestyle journeys that will be a part of day in my dreams. Sharing adventures on the go, travel in NYC and beyond, fashion updates, and tips in tricks I’ve learned along the way in my blogging adventures will now be openly shared with you in upcoming posts – so brace for what’s to come next! These will be the things you wish your mom had told you before prom, what you need to know for blogging success, how to edit photos, and what you wish you understood before you wore that awful fashion faux pas you’re still regretting (common, we’ve all been there). But …

teatox and travel wear

Frequent trips have led me to develop some go-to habits which are my fail safe to avoid all the many mini crisises that can happen along the way. Travel wear: it’s a science. Packed bad shoes? Bandaids in bag. Airport security? Liquids in easy-access purse pouch. Might need an evening clutch but don’t have room for another single bag? Clip chain for the wallet. Sounds like madness, but these types of little tips keep a swing in my step and the hitch out of travel. If anyone can figure out the solution for delayed flights… queue me in. #lifestory For the most part, the main issues are averted with some basics steps that save a bit of time – and make traveling a whole lot more simple. For example: travel wear. This one took me surprisingly a long time to master. It was a constant battle of what was “comfortable” and what was social acceptable to wear in public. Frankly – I couldn’t care less about the latter. But at time, duty calls for us …

bershka street style

Back with some more Bershka, exploring the streets of D.C. So much to do wandering the streets of the city. I could get lost just following my nose on the scent of fresh baked goodies and sidewalk cafes. I’ve had such an incredible time working with their team throughout the past couple of months, and have basically resorted to living in these jeans 24/7 (good thing they’re made to be worn in). photography:KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | head-to-ankle c/o:BERSHKA | ankle-down (aka boots) c/o:CLARKS Spent a good deal of the afternoon hours trolling the streets. I was glad to be in my Clarks boots – this is seriously the pair that never fails. You know those items in your closet that you wear so much, you literally can’t imagine life without them… yeah. It’s like that. Their new spring collection is making it’s arrivals now… so looks like shopping is on the horizon. #clarkstrendsetters Checking my Insta every insta. I mean seriously, look at the food in front of my face, and not even phased… clearly I …

coffee break into new year

Christmas past, my gaze is now set to my favorite day of the year – New Years Day. A feeling of old burdens shedding off like dust blowing into the wind, it’s time for another re-birth, and the change has already begun. Beginning the first week of January, I will be transitioning into my new role in creative content for a marketing agency in NYC. I wait on the days with baited breath, and these moments between hardly feel like reality. Embracing the best of both worlds, I’ll be spending half of my time in the city, and have the privilege of working from the comfort of home alternate weeks. Choosing to take some time off between positions, I’ll be spending the week setting up a home office and streamlining my travel essentials. Reflecting on blogging edition 2015, there have been more unexpected challenges and exciting opportunities than I ever could have imagined. So much can change and develop in just a year’s time, here’s to you for joining in on the ride. One such opportunity that I’ve been just dying to share with you guys: I’ve joined up with the Berskha team for a series of features on their blog! You can see shots from the first shoot below, on a journey through D.C. Their team has been incredible to work with, and their collection is simply amazing. It was difficult for me to narrow down which pieces I wanted to style together for each shoot, but settled on some solid basics and nautical accents for this story of the city. They are an international retailer, so their broadened scope of fashion and trends can really be seen in the details of each item. photography:KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:NIKON D90 | head to toe c/o:BERSHKA Gotta love being surrounded by some of the nation’s most monumental pillars of alabaster marble. Want the full scoop? Join the journey on Bershka, and …

that holiday feelin

The holiday weekend is upon us! Headed to Wisconsin to see the fam for the weekend. Road-tripping it with two monstrous dogs in the backseat… wish me luck. Note to self, don’t wear black. Or leggings. Or anything else comfortable for that matter, since somehow “comfy” = world-shifting force magnet for dog hair. #itsgonnabealongtrip #ineedlintrollers Also, not going to be so warm up north, so I’m enjoying this record sun to the max while for my last days in VA for the week. Not often you can wear skirts and scarves in a Virginia winter, but I’ll take it! photography:KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:NIKON D90 | knit skirt:TJMAXX | scarf:LOUIS VUITTON | lace-up shoes c/o:TRAFFIC SHOE | bracelet c/o:AEROCULATA | rings c/o:AEROCULATA | stack chokers c/o:NO WEEKENDS | nail laquer c/o:INTENSAE Huge fan of lace-up shoes, and these little shooties are a total steal with Traffic Shoe’s sale, buy 1 get one for $1. Word of advise for when to splurge or steal: for timeless pieces (scarves, knits, quality basics, etc) go big or go home. They’ll be in your …

sunday morning

Stillness truly is a commodity one should treasure. And one of the few times it shows itself is during the first moments of the day. Though I’m not a proclaimed morning person (quite the opposite actually), once I manage to pry open my eyes, soak in the light, and indulge in my first cup of coffee – those moments that follow are actually quite pleasant when the day’s rush can be put on hold. The view of the city below keeps my mind wandering on dreams of the future and memories of days past. And weekends at home – don’t even get me started. My daytime wardrobe is lucky if it finds me. Lazy you say? Comfy, I answer. #truestory photography:KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:NIKON D90 | bralette c/o:TRUE & CO | cuff c/o:MADELEINE ISSING | rings c/o:KINDLING & COMPANY | geo necklace c/o:KINDLING & COMPANY | hotel:W HOTEL Another great wake-me-up in the am – yoga. don’t blink

Because some days really are too good to be true. Three years ago, I had never been to NYC. Now, both work and pleasure have since brought me back dozens of times, and the city’s soul has now become a more familiar place to me.  (Though I must admit, I have yet to master the subway system) #helpme The city is truly full of endless adventures and possibilities. This morning’s mission was one of the most urgent nature, and hardly accomplished in time to avoid a complete catastrophe… but just when I had almost given up hope (frantic, two blocks away from where my search began)… there it was, tucked in the corner of a busy intersection, and almost in arms reach…  the one answer to every problem. Coffee. Yeah, it’s like that. photography:KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:NIKON D90 | knit:FOREVER21 | ombre joggers c/o:PARKER SMITH | loafers:NICOLE | stack rings c/o:K D’Angelo Designs | location:W HOTEL UNION SQUARE Dress in NYC is almost a formula. With such a variety of places one might wind up, it’s best to be …

what happiness is made of

Hello, and happy Saturday. Had the most wonderful past weekend with an impromptu trip to NYC to visit a good friend. All 48 hours held every bit of bliss one could ask for – from city sights to tasty bites, complete with a luxury stay in Union Square’s W Hotel. Spending these better moments in life always brings to mind a thought: what exactly is happiness made of. Is it a formula of positive experiences combined in the right moments, soaking in the luxuries life has to offer? Is it something that can be created and re-created if the solution is found? I believe happiness is many things. But above all, it is a choice – the eyes through which you see the world, and spending it with those you love. Thank you friends, for just such a weekend. Will fill you all in on more details from the trip in later posts. In the mean time, all my wishes to each of you that your weekend and days to follow are spent in happiness. Apparently feeling all warm and …

bermuda triangl

Couldn’t think of a better thing to write about than vacation to get through the mid-week blues. At least my mind can be in a happy place while my butt is glued to this uncannily uncomfortable office chair. Need a break but stuck in a swirling vortex of work and life chaos? Take a day – or a half day. Or a couple hours with your favorite glass of wine. The reset is crucial, especially when you don’t have time. Eat, drink, breathe, repeat… then get your lazy butt back to work. Only twice I have felt the sun and shade of palms this year. Once during my tour of India, and the other last weekend just for a day at the semi-local beach in VA. Posting a couple pictures of both to aid in my mental getaway. Also taking my new Tringl suit for it’s first spin. It’s made from scuba… how cool is that. photography:KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:NIKON D90 + HTC RE | suit c/o:TRINGL | cosmetic bag c/o:SNAPMADE | portable charger c/o:LEPOW | nail laquer c/o:INTENSAE Beach …
