Clean, crisp, inspirational – suddenly you have the urge to purge your wardrobe and reduce your collection to a few luxury fashion pieces hanging neatly in your dream-like wardrobe. 3 ways to pick your weekday casual in a New York minute

Relaxed, sophisticated style. That pretty much sums up the ideal wardrobe situation for a girl on the go. But it’s not always easy looking effortlessly chic when you need to be dressed and out the door in 10 minutes. Balancing a full-time career as a creative director and managing a fashion blog on the side can be a challenge – especially when you try to squeeze world travel into the mix. I’d say I’m pretty happy with the balance I’ve found so far, but I’d be lying if I said I walk out the door every day feeling great about the outfit I grabbed. I mean loose jeans and a raggedy sweater from ’09? What was I thinking. I often try to share tips on work life balance as I know many of you understand the struggle is real. Here are a couple tips I incorporate into an (almost) fool proof recipe for fast, wardrobe grabs when you need to get out the door in a hurry and look fab all at the same time. …

when a warm breeze blows

A week of nothing to do but soak in bliss. A stretch of sandy beaches, pina colada in hand, and endless tacos on the horizon. It’s vacation in Mexico! The latest adventure: outskirts of Cancun with a crew of 10 for the week. Welcome to the cabana life. All-inclusive is definitely the way to go, and there was no shortage of champagne and cocktails on our 10 day adventure in Cancun at the Sandos Caracol Eco Resort. A moment to breath fresh, unworried air – priceless. photography:FRIENDS | camera:iPHONE 6 | shorts:ONE TEASPOON | statement necklace c/o:STICKS + STONES | sunglasses:RAYBAN | marble bag c/o:LUXE BLOGGER | perfume c/o:MAISON MARGIELA Beach essentials for the trip: some statement jewelry courtesy of Sticks + Stones along with a new scent by Maison Margiela and of course – go-to RayBan sunnies. Advise for beach-centric vacations – don’t over pack. The likelihood of you changing out of a swimsuit and cover more than 1-2 times are little to none. Instead, focus on swimwear and lightweight pieces that work well over a …

what to wear to the office

what to wear to work and the after party

It’s a weekday. And you’ve been staring into your wardrobe with the blank “I need coffee” stare for the past 10 minutes. Wore it last week; I think it’s supposed to rain today; I just can’t handle tight jeans right now; do I have time to get doughnuts before work; I wonder what they’d say if I showed up in a sweatshirt; I wish the neighbor’s dog would stop barking; do people still even watch walking dead?? So the work week begins. You’re pretty sure you’re already late, and you haven’t even filled your eyebrows yet. A whole closet full, yet no idea on what to wear to work. Plus you’re supposed to meet the girls for happy hour straight from the office. Work appropriate and cute enough to compete with your local version of housewives of NYC? As a fashion blogger, I have a huge closet plump full of this seasons hottest trends. But the struggle is real for all of us. It’s 7:15am, that’s just too much for the mind to handle right …

live luxe, live lavish

Anything worth doing, is worth doing well. And from my perspective, that includes every aspect of life. I’m not being boushy, nor do I prioritize fineness over life’s greatest treasures such as love, kindness and forgiveness. However – living to the fullest can be fun. And there’s nothing wrong with living a little luxe and lavish as long as you don’t loose sight of eternal treasures in the process. photography:KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | laceup skirt c/o:LAVISH ALICE | backless top c/o:LAVISH ALICE | perspex boots c/o:LAVISH ALICE | perspex cuffs c/o:REVOLT DESIGN | leather clutch c/o:REVOLT DESIGN | leather purse c/o:VONHOLZHAUSEN If there’s one thing I’ve learned through the ample opportunities that have come along with managing a travel, lifestyle and fashion blog – it’s to truly value purchases before you make them. Being completely candid, part of blogging is receiving countless items from partners and collaborators or brands hopeful of features. In the process, I have learned to not only select my partners carefully for my ideal style and the …

The pajama trend, so in. Looking like you just rolled out of bed – so not. So what gives? The queens of streetstyle somehow pull the trend off flawlessly, looking effortlessly chic. grana silk holiday dress

holiday fashion guide for the minimalist

Snowflakes drop heavily against the darkened NYC skyline, then flitter away suddenly with each breath of wind. White lines the window sills and rooftops. The sky is darkened, yet somehow spirits are light. Twinkling lights from street to the highest high rise, the shops have begun their elaborate display of Christmas. A tree every-other door, ornaments dangling from store windows tantalizing passerbys with an overwhelming urgency for shopping. Restaurant windows glow with a warm light and scene of smiling faces toasting to the day, a most welcoming sight from the cold of the streets. Visitors and NY locals alike flood the streets, bundled in down coats with hoods up, rushing to find the last items from their holiday list. It’s Christmas in New York, the most magical time of year. I’ve never been one for much holiday decorations, but I must say, it’s a beautiful sight to behold. It’s as if the world for a moment forgets the harsh cold of winter – warmed by thoughts of family and festivities to come. And so many …

nyc style for a working woman on the go

When it comes to packing workwear on the fly, I’ve come to be a bit of an expert. With half my time spent working from home balancing blog, full time job and personal life… and every-other week spent in my office in NYC with late nights and heavy workloads… life pretty much exists in a suitcase, and I have to be able to pull it together at a moments notice. That means picking out my office wardrobe in advance, and being able to fit everything into a somewhat too-small luggage set. Pieces then need to arrive wrinkle free, since I stay at different hotels each stay you just never know the amenities they may be missing. I have to be prepared for bipolar weather, client meetings, blogger events and the occasional night out with friends. photography:KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | bow shirt dress c/o:DAVID LERNER | grey cardigan c/o:DAVID LERNER | black wrap blouse c/o:DAVID LERNER | grey bodysuit c/o:DAVID LERNER | faux leather leggings c/o:DAVID LERNER | slippers:GUCCI | work bag c/o:DAGNE DOVER …

all white minimalist fashion lifestyle

a minimalist lifestyle from a blogger’s perspective

minimalism: noun min·i·mal·ism \ˈmi-nə-mə-ˌli-zəm\ 1: a style or technique (as in music, literature, or design) that is characterized by extreme spareness and simplicity – Merriam Webster Dictionary Minimalism is the most simple and pure form of any thing. The essence of something – without anything additional. It is the absence of excess. But how does that interpret into lifestyle? Some interpret minimal fashion as a constricted wardrobe of monochrome ensembles. Black, white, beige, simple. Hangers should be 2” apart with plenty of empty space since “minimalism” seems often translated as having less. Each piece should have minimal adornments and detailing, and must be of the most straightforward nature. T-shirts, tanks, jeans. The aura should be stark, neat, empty. photography:KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | top c/o:LIE | shorts c/o:SALIENT LABEL I have a much different perspective. Indeed, those descriptive characteristics above are part of a minimalist lifestyle – but it goes much deeper than that. It’s less about the rules, and more about the experience and aesthetic of each piece, item, and choices. …
