The sky is darkened, yet somehow spirits are light. Twinkling lights from street to the highest high rise, the shops have begun their elaborate display of Christmas. A tree every-other door, ornaments dangling from store windows tantalizing passerbys with an overwhelming urgency for shopping. Restaurant windows glow with a warm light and scene of smiling faces toasting to the day, a most welcoming sight from the cold of the streets. When it comes to packing workwear on the fly, I’ve come to be a bit of an expert. With half my time spent working from home balancing blog, full time job and personal life… and every-other week spent in my office in NYC with late nights and heavy workloads… life pretty much exists in a suitcase, and I have to be able to pull it together at a moments notice. That means picking out my office wardrobe in advance, and being able to fit everything into a somewhat too-small luggage set. Pieces then need to arrive wrinkle free, since I stay at different hotels each stay you just never know the amenities they may be missing. The essence of something – without anything additional. It is the absence of excess. But how does that interpret into lifestyle? Some interpret minimal fashion as a constricted wardrobe of monochrome ensembles. Black, white, beige, simple. Hangers should be 2” apart with plenty of empty space since “minimalism” seems often translated as having less. Each piece should have minimal adornments and detailing, and must be of the most straightforward nature. T-shirts, tanks, jeans.
