self check, is this outfit even me?

An inbox full of fashion newsletters, runway updates, trend magazines and reports – and don’t even get me started on scrolling for hours through covet-worthy insta posts. It’s easy to get lost in the world of fashion.  We are a culture of excess, and access to it all. Working in fashion and managing a side hustle fashion blog keeps me brow-deep in all things fashion. And studying all of the world’s most tantalizing trends can sometimes make it difficult draw the line between what we love, and what’s truly “us”. If your wardrobe hasn’t felt like you lately, maybe it’s time for a self check.  It’s important to realize you can appreciate all kinds of fashion, without feeling like you need to jump on board with every single trend. If you’re trying to reduce clutter and maintain a more minimalistic wardrobe, perhaps it’s time for some self diagnostics before shopping. Pre-shopping self(help) checklist: Does this piece express something about me? Is this something I would feel confident wearing? Do I have other items in my …

the best of winter fashion essentials

Wide leg trousers, sweater vests, utility boots – some are quick to grab up some of the biggest fall and winter trends before the season begins. Then the snow comes. The cold sets in, and we gravitate towards the pieces that not only preserve a thread of what makes us feel like “us”, but also the pieces that work functionally into our everyday lifestyles. It’s mid January. There’s plenty of winter left, but it’s been long enough for us to establish just what is essential in our winter wardrobes. As such, here is the best of winter. A collection of pieces that are not only on trend, but ones that have proven themselves throughout the season to be wardrobe essentials. Wide leg pants For you lovers of skinny jeans, I’m sorry. This year, the vote is in and wide leg trousers are the pant of choice. In the minimalist fashion world, they’ve been well embraced for more than a couple of seasons. This season, they’ve made it to mainstream. If you don’t feel quite right …

workwear street style with Anne Fontaine

An air of confidence, a long temperate stride. She brushes back a loose wisp of hair and lets her hand fall unassumingly down the tailored lines of her suiting. You catch a glimpse of her slightly parted lips as she glances back at the cityscape behind.  The master of street style. Editorial worthy ensembles that look somehow effortlessly draped on as if completely unthought perfection could be truly possible. But what if it was? There are a few brands that create a story behind their pieces, delivering timeless luxury essentials season after season. Brands that collections which are elegant, graceful and seductive, yet simple and understated – allowing the details of the craftsmanship to speak volumes at just a glance. These are the brands worth investing in. The brands that bring effortless sophistication to our fingertips, allowing us to drip in grace without even trying. The brands we reach for every morning when we want to look and feel our best – for owning the streets in powerful confidence. Once such brand, Anne Fontaine. Delivering …

living lighter with less

’Til 2022, a deep desire for “less” has continued to well up in my being. Perhaps partially driven by a complex, heavy world around us. Simplicity is uncomplicated peace, and excess is no more than baggage. I’ve applied this not only to a more capsule approach to my wardrobe, but throughout my home and life as well. It’s become easier and easier to let go of the baggage that builds up with time, and more and more rewarding as the piles of unneeded disappear leaving more time to kick back and enjoy what you have. Not only in things which are material, but also in matters of the mind.    We are a generation of over thinkers. Of excess, and emotional weights we carry with us throughout our lives. It’s a new year, and it’s time to eliminate and reduce baggage – physically, mentally and emotionally. The cause and effect is simple, with less, we are lighter. With less burdens, we can stand up straighter. We become free to pursue what makes us truly happy without …

this fall’s minimalist pop color: green

There may never have been such a strong color trend as this 2021 trending hue. The new fashion statement color – a bold hue of vivid green.  Perhaps due to society’s shift in getting back to nature, this color of life is dominating catwalks and streetstyle stars alike. (OK I made up the getting back to nature part… but hey, it makes sense). And, after doing some further digging into the trend, in fact the FW21-22 NYFW Color Forecast does call the color a tribute to “the fun side of nature.” Spotted on stars like Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid (frequently spotted sporting this color trend), you probably can’t open your social without spotting some hue of primary to emerald green. Green is truly the color of life. And while fall slowly steals that away from us, we’re still reminded of summer memories with this grassy hue that somehow evokes a feel-good energy. Who wouldn’t want to capture that. And it’s not just your fashion influencers adopting the trend. Major luxury players like Bottega Veneta and …

Just published this fall’s trend report on key styles we’re seeing from around the globe. Get ready for a continuation of preppy sophisticates, as well as an emergence of nature-inspired trends – largely rooted in sustainability. You can check out the full fall trend report here.
