Because some days really are too good to be true. Three years ago, I had never been to NYC. Now, both work and pleasure have since brought me back dozens of times, and the city’s soul has now become a more familiar place to me.  (Though I must admit, I have yet to master the subway system) #helpme The city is truly full of endless adventures and possibilities. Hello, and happy Saturday. Had the most wonderful past weekend with an impromptu trip to NYC to visit a good friend. All 48 hours held every bit of bliss one could ask for – from city sights to tasty bites, complete with a luxury stay in Union Square’s W Hotel. Spending these better moments in life always brings to mind a thought: what exactly is happiness made of. Is it a formula of positive experiences combined in the right moments, soaking in the luxuries life has to offer? Is it something that can be created and re-created if the solution is found? I believe happiness is many things. But above all, it is a choice – the eyes through which you see the world, and spending it with those you love. Thank you friends, for just such a weekend. Enjoyed a bit of unorthodox leisure time last week. Between checking off some of those dusty to-do’s and enjoying a couple evenings over a glass of wine (and by a glass, yes… I do mean bottle), I was also also able to catch the flick Kingsman. Antiquated as the concept may be, I can’t get enough of the gentleman = lethal spy plot. Guys, in case you haven’t figured it out yet – suits are to women, as lingerie is to men. We find it attractive when you at least look like you’ve got your sh** together. And really, if you can’t bear to get out of your stained collage T and torn jeans on occasion, just bear this in mind: you don’t wear it, neither will we. #yourenotthebossofme #unlessyoulooklikeone Something about leather pants aways does it for me. Studies say it takes us only 7 seconds to generate our initial opinion of another person. 7 seconds! Think about that for a minute. That individual standing across from you has spend years learning and growing, seeing the world from completely different eyes. They have seen loss, and overcome challenges. They have had victories, and lost battles. They have lived stories that no other person in this world could tell. And yet, we are so confident in ourselves, that we have the audacity to sum them up in the same amount of time it takes to inhale a gulp of coffee? My word – we are truly pretentious creatures. And let’s not forget that we’re not the only ones judging. Rest assured that your onlookers are developing those same opinions about you! And while those impressions are all but completely out of your control, it is your choice to let those 7 seconds define you, or to live the life you’ve created for yourself. The method to my madness: embrace the inner beauty of yourself, and …

The elephant keeps walking as the dogs keep barking. Something they don’t teach you in business class. This adage from India came from my partner in crime, and I will continue to keep the words in heart. With the growth of success, comes an onslaught of negativity. And no, I’m not talking about constructive criticism that helps you grow. I’m talking about the truly nasty, nonfactual, and unprofessional based nagging and manipulation of situations with seemingly no purpose or cause. You’ve probably worked with a few such people in your life, and if you continue to grow in a path of success, you can probably expect a lot more. While the spirit’s first reaction may be to reflect the attitude, the best advise I’ve received: The elephant keeps walking as the dogs keep barking. The fact of the matter is, you’ll never be able to train the dogs. Instead, an elephant walks steadily through the streets, seemingly unaffected by the barking around them. Focus on your goals and how to achieve them. Our world is forever moving, and the places it takes us are a mixture of beauty, excitement, sadness, joy, and the unexpected. Life wouldn’t balance without a little of each. I find it best to accept all with a sort of reverence to the bigger picture, which our minds are so often incapable of comprehending in the moment.  This week has been a blur of each, as I say goodbye to two of my dearest friends. (no, they didn’t die). Their lives are taking them on beautiful adventures! And I couldn’t be more excited for the new opportunities they’ll experience with a change in work and new surroundings. So proud of you guys… but seriously… did you both have to leave in opposite directions in the same flippin week?? #youleftmeallalone jk I’ll be visiting soon. And to my friends that remain, I’m sorry but you’ll be experiencing an increased dose of me in weeks to follow. With the addition of fall setting in, I’ll be searching for life’s little comforts. Shaping up to be another beautiful week. Have a few new big projects coming up that I can’t wait to share with you all. Also had a bit of excitement in the office with the launching of our newest brand, Naked Feet. Took a dive, started on a whim, and ended up being one of the most incredible adventures I could have asked for – Happy 1st year anniversary to day in my dreams. The experience is beyond what I could ever have expected it to be, and you have made it that. Thank so much for supporting me from the very beginning through this first year. Your encouragement and inspirations have not only kept me blogging, but also brightened many days in my own personal life, like a close group of friends along for one of life’s many journeys. Having this opportunity to take something that is a passion and inner release for me, and being able to share that and interact with so many incredibly talented people, brands, and companies – is something I will be forever grateful for. Returned from Columbus after a week of trend work for fall 2016, and finally ready to cozy down into my own home for the next several days.Currently catching up on emails and inspirations. Wisconsin bound, making the most of my 45 min interval of free internet at the gate, compliments of American Airlines. A genuine thank you for the access… but seriously… with as many times as I’ve been canceled and delayed for hours (literally every time I fly with you), 45 minutes is all you got for me? #whereisthelove Cranky you say?? I had to be up at 3:30am to catch this flight, and my morning tea bag sunk into the bottom of my cup so all I’m drinking is hot water. So screw you world!… and your heavy tea bag!!!
