view of china from my hotel room

hello again, day in my dreams

There was nothing magical about the night like in the movies. No pedestal balcony looking over a night sky full of stars and a city full of lights. No marble floors and mid-century modern furniture. No crystal wear or decanters of aged scotch. In fact, everything was quite ordinary in the 4-star hotel corporate suite. A faint smell of room service sat in the air, I had taken a shot of the city when I first arrived of the bedroom view. It was beautiful, but not breathtaking. photography:ME | camera:iPHONE X   The room had a familiar feel to it, as if you had been there before. But perhaps it was just the standard beige wallpapered bathroom and bleach white sheets you find in most hotel accommodations. Yet, something about it felt new, inspiring even. Maybe it was just the jet lag and 30-hour trip with minimal stimulation. Whatever it was, the shift from dreamworld to reality was inevitable. I felt excited. As if I had just found something that had been lost for so …

This year, it was time for an upgrade with some new nature prints and warmer textures for the fall season. Let’s start with the living room. Surrounding myself in minimalist design, I keep my interior mostly all white, and focus on a few statement pieces. For the cold season, I chose a winter-mix mood, featuring wide open scenery and mountain top vibes. Incorporating a scattered poster pattern helps fill a large wall space, while keeping …

immunocologie skincare review

the science of beauty with Immunocologie

Ever wish you could tap into and hack the chemistry of your skin? With insight into your skin’s biology, you would have the power to address your skin’s needs before they happen – preventing irritation, pollution, dryness and sensitivities. Well, Immunocologie is attempting to do just that. With over 10 years of research and development, their skincare team has worked to develop a line of skincare products with science at the forefront. Working with natural ingredients to provide defense from environmental stressors, Immunocologie prevents skin damage by nourishing your skin with the essential minerals and nutrients it needs to stay healthy, happy and protected. I have pretty sensitive skin, and I understand the side affects involved with placing unnatural elements in or on your body. My first attraction to Immunocologie began with the ingredient list. I’m pretty careful what I put on my skin, and if there’s a natural or home remedy – I’m likely to give it a try before resorting to packaged goods. photography:KRISTINA PETRICK | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | skincare regime …

eating clean for 21 days with the organic, vegan Veestro challenge

Disclaimer: I’m not by any means a vegan, and though I try to eat healthy for the most part, there’s not much I can do about resisting a 12oz ribeye and stack of macaroni and cheese. I’m only human after all. I do however, my best at purchasing only organic foods when they’re available, and try to stick to what I would consider a clean diet (non-processed foods). Veggies are at the top of my food pyramid, and aside from water and wine – a cold pressed juice or sparkling kombucha are my go-to drinks of choice. The biggest hurdle in sticking to a healthy diet – limit on time. Sure when I cook I incorporate fresh greens, lean meats and a well balanced array of nutrients (don’t we all at least try to do that?). But working a full-time job, balancing the blog and a personal life makes health and fitness another task that’s difficult to always pencil in. That’s why I was excited when I friend of mine reached out and introduced Veestro. …

DIY turmeric mask home remedy for anti-aging, skin sensitivities, and fading dark spots

For all of you with sensitive skin, redness acne or just people who want to maintain a young, healthy skin glow – here’s a lifestyle blog DIY recipe for a turmeric face mask that’s a natural method for skin SOS. Let’s start with the background. My boyfriend is Indian, so he’s recommended turmeric to me before for its healing properties that have been used in India for centuries both when applied topically directly to the skin or consumed in foods – but I wasn’t quite sold. I have fairly healthy skin, so it just didn’t seem worth the effort. This week (whether due to changes in weather, stress levels, or a new face wash I tried) whatever it was my skin freaked out. I was out having girls night when my chin started hurting. I quick graze revealed a small cluster of breakouts on the bottom of my chin, which has literally never happened. One of my friends gave me tea tree oil, but the issue persisted in the morning. So finally – I gave …

new years resolutions 101 and how to stick with them

Just kidding, if I had the answer to that I’d have flat 6 pack abs from a rigorous active routine, be juicing every morning, and actually be taking the time to do my hair on weekdays. Let’s face it, we all struggle with meeting the expectations that are put on us by friends, family, coworkers and worse – ourselves. And there’s no other time that’s more apparent than New Years. Somehow inspired by the unmarked calendar, people gaze steadily forward. Sure that this time, they’re going to follow through. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not discouraging you. In fact, New Year’s is one of my favorite holidays as it represents a fresh start, new beginnings and yes – New Years resolutions. I quite savor the time of year to look forward with an untarnished canvas laying before me. But it’s important to remember amidst your ambitions, not to get lost in trying to become someone whom we are not, or becoming discouraged when we fail. Though I can admit to often falling in line with …

minimalist interior inspo

interior inspo – decorating with Desenio posters

Fingers scrolling, eyes quickly snapping up and down, back and forth. I don’t even remember what my original search was for, but it’s happened again. Someone call the optometrist because eyes will be flowing with tears of agitation before I can pry myself away… One of my lids has begun to twitch, and I’m not quite sure if it’s the strain or a twinge of envy as the beautiful interiors continue to stream in front of my eyes. Know what I’m talking about? Caught in the endless gaze of Instagram’s interior inspo. You may think it’s funny, but it’s no joke. Lifestyle bloggers have seriously given me a complex when it comes to my home’s interior. How is there home so filled with light? Who actually has a kitchen that clean? Where did they ever find such a flawless palm and how has that huge furry dog not shed all over their black throw? Unfortunately, I can’t answer those questions, the struggle here is still real. photography:KRISTINA PETRICK | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | posters …

name luxury activewear bag

versatility at its finest, NAME activewear review

Gym, then coffee date. Office to happy hour. Yoga to the market. With people overwhelmed with too much to do and too little time, it’s unusual for one to be able to step out of the house for just one thing. My list is normally a mile long of a few errands I’ve been putting off, some element of work and probably trying to squeeze in some social time between appointments. In NYC, that means packing a change of shoes, my laptop and sometimes even a change of clothes. Versatility is key for my lifestyle. If the stuff I tote along with me can’t keep up, its going to end up staying in the closet. In the era of wearable technology, robotics and AI – why can’t a girl get a bag that’s just well, smarter? That’s why I’ve partnered with NAME, a luxury fashion brand to introduce their newest activewear bag. Taking a stance on redefining luxury, NAME understands that a women of our generation seek not only beauty and elegance in fashion, but …

nyc style for a working woman on the go

When it comes to packing workwear on the fly, I’ve come to be a bit of an expert. With half my time spent working from home balancing blog, full time job and personal life… and every-other week spent in my office in NYC with late nights and heavy workloads… life pretty much exists in a suitcase, and I have to be able to pull it together at a moments notice. That means picking out my office wardrobe in advance, and being able to fit everything into a somewhat too-small luggage set. Pieces then need to arrive wrinkle free, since I stay at different hotels each stay you just never know the amenities they may be missing. I have to be prepared for bipolar weather, client meetings, blogger events and the occasional night out with friends. photography:KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | bow shirt dress c/o:DAVID LERNER | grey cardigan c/o:DAVID LERNER | black wrap blouse c/o:DAVID LERNER | grey bodysuit c/o:DAVID LERNER | faux leather leggings c/o:DAVID LERNER | slippers:GUCCI | work bag c/o:DAGNE DOVER …
