athletic lounge

Lazy in athletic wear a contradiction?… nah. Ok but for real, the gym is calling my name. Returned from Las Vegas last night, and my liver is begging for a cleanse. Goals for the day: leave work on time – get my sweat game on. In other news, had a great show at WWDMagic, and some of my favorite shoes are already sold out for next Spring! Had the opportunity to meet some key blogging influencers at the convention. It’s really incredible the amount of support in the fashion community. Whether people are doing it for a hobby or career, I’ve yet to be welcomed with anything but open arms and freely shared advise and encouragement. A special thanks to Linh Nguyen from Linhwinn for taking a chunk of time sharing her experience on such a personal level. Her advise: be personal, have some fun, and always stay true to yourself. In that same spirit, I’ve recently connected with a new friend, Soraya who has just launched her very first blog The La La Mode. She’s got a …

you and the moon

Worlds colliding this week with preparation for FFaNY and WWDMagic, in addition to having family in town for the next couple of days. Yet again, finding myself wishing there were a few extra hours in each day, but then – that’s better than wishing them away. The past few months have brought with them many changes, and I find my heart to be as restless as the world around me. On the brink of a breakthrough, or on the edge of devastation – some part of me finds pleasure in the conflict. It’s like being a speck caught in a whirlwind – and as unsettling as that might sound, the adrenaline rush is totally worth the ride. Carrying over the winds into this week’s wardrobe, I found myself playing a lot with combining sport elements into a casual-tailored blend. Those mornings when you find just the right combo and think… “yes. heck yes. today is going to be a killer day…” yeah, it was like that. photography:KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | kimono:FOREVER21 | shoes c/o:CLARKS  |  double bar cuff c/o:ROCKSBOX (use code:DAYINMYDREAMSXOXO for a free …

a new york minute

Just returned from the city for possibly the best New York Shoe Show yet. Now that I’ve laid eyes on our Spring 2016 samples, I await with bated breath to show them to the world. Makes it feel as if this summer has already come and gone. Life has been bursting forward at an unbelievable rate. They say it gets faster as time goes on… I really hope they’re lying… If you’re constantly on the go (or just killing your phone battery with your Instagram obsession) this little gem from Lepow may just save your day. After all, you’ll want it to last for every New York minute. With the rush of preparing last minute projects for the trip, packing came down to pretty much throwing everything in a bag and hoping basic needs would be covered. My new travel buddy came in handy several times. Meet Poki. A sleek tech piece from Lepow that packs enough punch for a couple extra phone charges between stops. I vow to never leave my home without it. photography:YOURS TRULY | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | portable charger c/o:LEPOW | …

fly away with me

Happy New Years Eve! By far the most anticipated holiday of the year for me… not because one has to wait the longest for it to arrive, but because everyone needs fresh starts, new goals, and a new mantra to live by. For the past several years, I’ve always thought out one phrase that I really want to Post-it note to my mind through the following year. Cheesy I know, but it helps me stay focused and driven to accomplish (not so much a goal) but a new way of seeing things. Last year, overwhelmed with 70+ hour work weeks, a plethora of personal life chaos, a lot of life changes, etc (you get the point, we’ve all been there)… my mantra for 2014 has been, “Striving for perfection is in vain. Instead, succeed in making progress.” -me ;)  Because when you take on the world, sometimes it’s a bigger bite than we can handle, but piece at a time – you can really accomplish anything. This past year through those struggles, some life-long goals have been accomplished, and …

edge of darkness

I seriously need to start buying other colors besides black… but let’s be honest, the next time you find that perfectly cut sweater of your dreams and decide to mix it up, it’s going to sit stuffed in the corner of forgottens, and you’re going to be wishing it WAS black. Ok, white, grey, and nude are also fabulous choices, but who wants to look like a bag of skittles coated in care-bear puke. (that was a bit dramatic and gross, sorry) Neutrals are just the best, that’s all I’m saying. This Thursday’s post are a few photos from a MADELiNE Shoes photoshoot I had the pleasure of being involved in, as a part of my work. I don’t model for MADELiNE, usually just coordinate the shoots (hence my face chopped off in most of these). But sometimes in a pinch, we’ll take any size 6.0 that comes our way – this day happened to be me. What else I’m wearing (and yes, in case you were wondering, I do get to keep the clothes …

on the fence

Part of the work I do for my big girl job is coordinating photoshoots for our branded marketing material – and at times stepping in as the foot model when we’re running a project on short notice. (If you’re in the shoe business, you know how lucky being a size 6.0 can be) This is one such shoot for my favorite of our brands, which you see me wearing on the constant. OTBT. These pumps are actually a part of their Spring 2015 collection, but are in early and available now here!: http://www.musthaveshoes.com/lee-mint-otbt.html What I love about the brand, 90% of them are made with the softest leathers while the other 10% are made with fun prints (I made those statistics up), the styles are a bit tough-girl, sporty-chic, and a few of the styles lean in towards comfort with footbeds and velcro closures. Don’t lie to me, I know you love velcro. And let me tell you, after trapesing around the town shooting over a dozen outfits on this particular day, this pair was …

man tailored

First of all, don’t mind the same J Brand jeans two post in a row… told you they were a staple! (I did laundry I swear) Second of all, these photos were taken on 11/11, the month and day, not the time – however I am considering them to be lucky all the same. Lastly, I know it’s been a hot spell since my last post, travels have kept me away, but I’ll be sure to fill you in on the posts to come. For now let’s just say the past 10 days I have been in NYC, Wisconsin, Florida, and finally back home to Virginia. So the short of it – I’m going to bed immediately after this post is written, even though it’s currently 7:15PM. What it is (in my best gangster voice): The coat is called Ada by Marc New York, so immediately I thought it would be fabulous. The leather detailing on the sleeves sold me in a heartbeat. Sadly, it collects lint like CRAZY. Had this discussion with a couple …

falling out

Fall, along with it’s brilliant colors and crisp air, brings mixed feelings… Truly it’s one of the most breathtaking times of the year. One could never replace the smell of turning leaves catching in the wind, the brightness of the sky in those moments at dawn and dusk, and the warmth of the sun in the afternoons. But a certain undertone of the darkest sadness sets in with the realization that summer has past, and the death of the growing things on the earth will bring on the set of the bitterness of winter. The sky now darkens in the evenings before one has time to rush home for supper, and the once pleasant walks in the evenings are now most dreaded. Winter, we’re braced but never ready. Staying bundled up and warm, so unless we get an onset of Indian Summer, expect a lot of layers for the next few months. Wearing a new overcoat from BlackFIVE which I refused to take off even for photos. These Jbrand jeans are one of the most …

one should recycle

Apparently blue is my hue of the season. So there is a story behind this leather top… It all started one dreary day, when I had nothing to do but stare blankly out of my windows… (Ok sorry I’ll get to the point) I was going through my closet, which is a huge task in and of itself, and is saved for days only when I have ample amounts of time. Often times when I do so, I discover pieces that had been shoved so far back, they were totally forgotten. Many of those – they were back there for a reason. (Goodwill, here we come) But a few pieces, it’s like shopping all over again in boutique Kristina. Well, this was a tuck-back-to-the-depths or donate item. But then, sometimes beautiful things can come from what might otherwise appear to be worthless. I got to looking at it (believe it or not, it was a jacket back then, a very, very ugly jacket). Out came the scissors, and a few snips later – I was …

bad siding

I know, I know – the location for these photos is terrible. But that’s just where I happened to be, and had to post because I’m in love with this new sweater. It continues to be a rainy and dark week (daylight savings, usually I despise you – but I’m ready for you to show up any day now). Weather may be most universally wardrobe defining influences – sweaters and baggy jeans here we all come. And do pardon my lazy hair day. photography: KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | sweater:SIONI | jeans:LEVI’S | boots:BACIO61
