blank slate

Recently returned from a 3 week tour of the far east, and arrived back in the U.S. to find the trees budding, and a warm breath on the air. Ready for a fresh start into the new season, and excited to begin sharing the most recent bout about the globe with you babes. First stop – China. Actually let me take that back… after canceled flights and a number of delays, Chicago ended up being the first night – and just avoided San Fran the night after. American Airlines – you’re currently on my bad side. So with the time cut from the trip – China was barely a whisper on the wind. Wearing a Spring collection Zara one-piece that was easy and office appropriate. New THPSHOP cuff was the butter on the bread. The set was a gift from myself… big girls gotta treat themselves sometimes xoxo photography:KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | dress:ZARA | cuffs:THPSHOP | slides:MADELINE

darkest night

Just a quicky cell-phone only post from the Atlanta Shoe Market. The weather was beyond frigid, and with all the walking about – I opted for my go-to overcoat and some simple basics beneath. Got the Zara top while I was in Atlanta for the show! (read: addict) Those beautiful black booties being sported… yeah my dog ate them a week later <tears> At least it was on the brink of spring season, so no looking back, and on to pool slides! On another note, I’ll be a bit MIA for the next few weeks, if you keep up with my Instagram you already know! China – here I come. And India, will be there shortly after. And yes… I am already dreaming of the beautiful Instagram backdrops that are going to be pretty much flooding my page – so join me digitally and check it out as they get snapped!  INSTAGRAM photography:THE COLEY COLLECTION | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | overcoat:THRIFTED | top:ZARA | boots:NICOLE

funnel necks and city views

One more post from the city as we toast to the show at the FFaNY after-party. Thank you for another beautiful show, until next time, cheers. Sporting a funnel neck in a sort of scuba material. Both big trends for the season, but definitely realizing it’s not ideal to wear during junk-food eating travel days #doublechin But still couldn’t resist sharing a few shots. No ootd info – mostly no names. Dread having to pack in a rush, but that’s what comes of back-to-back shows. When in doubt, basics come to the rescue. Yeah and about this 8″ thick slab of flawless marble masterpiece framing my champagne… lusting.

when i go

Back to the big apple for FFaNY, and it’s snowing. again. I’m fairly certain the shoe gods plan this particular feb event in coordinance with the most horrid weather days possible. Curse you shoe gods! One day, I’ll remember to pack snow boots. oh that’s right it’s a shoe show… so I’m not allowed to wear snow boots…. or any boots… <angry face emoji> Ah yes bliss. And there is more at stake than my frostbit piggies, with flights delayed or canceled, bad weather also makes for a slower-than-normal shoe show. WWDMagic show in Vegas is sounding better and better! (note: too bad I missed that show due to more snow. and two canceled flights). Dear shoe gods, where did I go wrong. Ok done whining. In all reality it was a fantastic trip, and thoroughly productive for myself and co-pals, and I’m getting SO pumped about the fall 2015 line of shoes. Plus we even had the luxury of having a few moments to ourselves to stroll around in the city… before I lost all feeling in my toes. About the clothes, I usually pack light …

the far east

Just received final confirmation that I will be traveling back to the far east this spring, and couldn’t be more excited for the trip. This adventure will be a mix of work and pleasure, starting in China for overseeing of photography techniques and interior remodeling of our office space there. We’re planning on a sleek update complete with cement flooring, walls of windows, and some luxe finishing details. (wishing this was going to be for my flat!) This will be my first visit to China; when I was asked to get the 10 year multi-entry visa… I said YES! From China, I will be touring India for my second time. The country is absolutely beautiful, and I find myself reminiscing of my first visit there last year. A part of my heart will now always reside there amongst the beautiful people I have had the pleasure of meeting, and now am proud to consider my family and friends. Since that was pre-blog, I will be sure to keep you guys more updated this time around. …

work hard, play harder, and eat a lot

At FFaNY! For any of you not in the shoe business (…probably all of you)  That is not some weirdly brilliant acronym I was cool enough to make up for your amusement, it’s a shoe show held 4 times a year in the city, and one of my bitchin perks of the job. The December show is the ultimate pleasure… it’s the first time our team gets to lay eyes on our new crop of product for the following year (so this time, we’re planning styles for our Fall/Winter 2015 collections). Wishing I could share a sneak peak at some of the eye-candy, but all under wraps for now! (AH THEY’RE SO GOOD!) X) Aside from the buzz and hustle at the showroom, a bit of time is also spent catching up with a few dear friends local there, enjoying the views and delicacies (so many treats for a small-town girl like me!), and of course, an insanely well-planned wardrobe. First day of the show, sporting perforated leather joggers (one of my prize investment pieces), …

fly away with me

Happy New Years Eve! By far the most anticipated holiday of the year for me… not because one has to wait the longest for it to arrive, but because everyone needs fresh starts, new goals, and a new mantra to live by. For the past several years, I’ve always thought out one phrase that I really want to Post-it note to my mind through the following year. Cheesy I know, but it helps me stay focused and driven to accomplish (not so much a goal) but a new way of seeing things. Last year, overwhelmed with 70+ hour work weeks, a plethora of personal life chaos, a lot of life changes, etc (you get the point, we’ve all been there)… my mantra for 2014 has been, “Striving for perfection is in vain. Instead, succeed in making progress.” -me ;)  Because when you take on the world, sometimes it’s a bigger bite than we can handle, but piece at a time – you can really accomplish anything. This past year through those struggles, some life-long goals have been accomplished, and …

edge of darkness

I seriously need to start buying other colors besides black… but let’s be honest, the next time you find that perfectly cut sweater of your dreams and decide to mix it up, it’s going to sit stuffed in the corner of forgottens, and you’re going to be wishing it WAS black. Ok, white, grey, and nude are also fabulous choices, but who wants to look like a bag of skittles coated in care-bear puke. (that was a bit dramatic and gross, sorry) Neutrals are just the best, that’s all I’m saying. This Thursday’s post are a few photos from a MADELiNE Shoes photoshoot I had the pleasure of being involved in, as a part of my work. I don’t model for MADELiNE, usually just coordinate the shoots (hence my face chopped off in most of these). But sometimes in a pinch, we’ll take any size 6.0 that comes our way – this day happened to be me. What else I’m wearing (and yes, in case you were wondering, I do get to keep the clothes …

falling out

Fall, along with it’s brilliant colors and crisp air, brings mixed feelings… Truly it’s one of the most breathtaking times of the year. One could never replace the smell of turning leaves catching in the wind, the brightness of the sky in those moments at dawn and dusk, and the warmth of the sun in the afternoons. But a certain undertone of the darkest sadness sets in with the realization that summer has past, and the death of the growing things on the earth will bring on the set of the bitterness of winter. The sky now darkens in the evenings before one has time to rush home for supper, and the once pleasant walks in the evenings are now most dreaded. Winter, we’re braced but never ready. Staying bundled up and warm, so unless we get an onset of Indian Summer, expect a lot of layers for the next few months. Wearing a new overcoat from BlackFIVE which I refused to take off even for photos. These Jbrand jeans are one of the most …

running from waves

One more day by the sea. Though the mornings were beyond crisp, the afternoons were perfection with a light breeze and 70’s sun. Just enough to bring out more freckles on my face. I’m still in denial that they’re actually sun spots. I knew it would be much too cold to get in the water, so I opted for some knit Bermuda shorts (that I’m absolutely obsessed with) and a jacket. Needless to say, they were both wet by the time we departed. I just can’t resist the salty goodness. Also noticing I’ve put my slides through a lot, time to shop for a replacement pair! photography: KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | fleece:NASTYGAL |  slides:NICOLE
