don’t blink

Because some days really are too good to be true. Three years ago, I had never been to NYC. Now, both work and pleasure have since brought me back dozens of times, and the city’s soul has now become a more familiar place to me.  (Though I must admit, I have yet to master the subway system) #helpme The city is truly full of endless adventures and possibilities. This morning’s mission was one of the most urgent nature, and hardly accomplished in time to avoid a complete catastrophe… but just when I had almost given up hope (frantic, two blocks away from where my search began)… there it was, tucked in the corner of a busy intersection, and almost in arms reach…  the one answer to every problem. Coffee. Yeah, it’s like that. photography:KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:NIKON D90 | knit:FOREVER21 | ombre joggers c/o:PARKER SMITH | loafers:NICOLE | stack rings c/o:K D’Angelo Designs | location:W HOTEL UNION SQUARE Dress in NYC is almost a formula. where we go

Our world is forever moving, and the places it takes us are a mixture of beauty, excitement, sadness, joy, and the unexpected. Life wouldn’t balance without a little of each. I find it best to accept all with a sort of reverence to the bigger picture, which our minds are so often incapable of comprehending in the moment.  This week has been a blur of each, as I say goodbye to two of my dearest friends. (no, they didn’t die). Their lives are taking them on beautiful adventures! And I couldn’t be more excited for the new opportunities they’ll experience with a change in work and new surroundings. So proud of you guys… but seriously… did you both have to leave in opposite directions in the same flippin week?? #youleftmeallalone jk I’ll be visiting soon. And to my friends that remain, I’m sorry but you’ll be experiencing an increased dose of me in weeks to follow. With the addition of fall setting in, I’ll be searching for life’s little comforts. On the east coast, it’s been sunny and 75 …

nior

Black… like my heart. (just kidding) But on a serious note, do you ever dress according to your mood? Sun is shining: all-white and some killer shoes, on a good day, my hair will also get combed. Overcast: black and reaching for the sweaters, even if it isn’t cold. Going to the beach? I just might wear a splash of color (don’t quote me on that). It’s like I need the outward me to reflect whatever the day will bring. Maybe I should wear more light colors to keep me in a good mood? hmmm… #foodforthought… nah. Today, partly cloudy with a chance of let’s-go-out-and-have-some-fun. Feeling like a badass in all black by Dead Legacy. This knit is so soft, I don’t plan on crawling out of it in the next foreseeable future. photography:KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:NIKON D90 | sweatshirt c/o:DEAD LEGACY | skirt:NASTYGAL | crossbody:FOREVER21 | jewelry:FOREVER21 | shoes:MADELINE | nail laquer c/o:INTENSAE All the details from Forever21… Yes – I’m fully aware that 21 has long since come and gone. But I couldn’t resist stocking up on …

say you’ll remember me

Walked into the grocery store this weekend to the welcoming aroma of freshly brewed, pumpkin spice latte, only to discover on my way out that it was actually perfumed pinecones… who came up with this madness?! While usually apprehensive of the changing of the seasons (hey fall fans… did you forget that WINTER comes next??)… this year I actually find myself quite ready for the cool morning air. Feels like a fresh start every day. Plus, I have been eying my growing stack of knit sweaters that I’m dying to get into. So much so, that I would actually feel a bit deceitful if I did not also share with you, that I am currently wearing said sweater – even though outdoors should reach the mid-eighties today. Hey – it’s cool in the air conditioning. #dontjudge White after Labor Day? Bring it on. (I just realized all of my paragraphs begin with “W” today… weird) Wearing a new top from Danice Stores that was a total steal, and layering on the white for fall transition. Fashion rules are made to …

you and the moon

Worlds colliding this week with preparation for FFaNY and WWDMagic, in addition to having family in town for the next couple of days. Yet again, finding myself wishing there were a few extra hours in each day, but then – that’s better than wishing them away. The past few months have brought with them many changes, and I find my heart to be as restless as the world around me. On the brink of a breakthrough, or on the edge of devastation – some part of me finds pleasure in the conflict. It’s like being a speck caught in a whirlwind – and as unsettling as that might sound, the adrenaline rush is totally worth the ride. Carrying over the winds into this week’s wardrobe, I found myself playing a lot with combining sport elements into a casual-tailored blend. Those mornings when you find just the right combo and think… “yes. heck yes. today is going to be a killer day…” yeah, it was like that. photography:KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | kimono:FOREVER21 | shoes c/o:CLARKS  |  double bar cuff c/o:ROCKSBOX (use code:DAYINMYDREAMSXOXO for a free …

don’t blame it on me

With an overwhelming task list the past several weeks, I finally claimed a weekend for my own. Hello 11:00am in bed with coffee, poolside afternoons, carb-filled gluttony, day parties, and late nights. If only life was always filled with such pleasures. Mindset still on staycation, currently debating laundry or blogging… I guess you can see which won ;) We’ve been getting a taste of the tropics in the southeast with temperatures reaching the mid 90’s, and torrents of rain each evening. As if the sky is trying to quench the earth of the sun’s evil glare. Time has taught me breathable and loose trumps skimpy and tight to beat the heat. A chambray from The Mint Julep Boutique was my comfy go-to for surviving the scorch. Don’t mind the drops of sweat pouring glistening in the close-ups. In the mood for shopping? (online of course, to avoid the heat)… check the insta for a chance to with a $25 giftcard here. photography:KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | chambray c/o:THE MINT JULEP BOUTIQUE | boots:NICOLE | timepiece c/o:FJORD | nail …

tastes like granola

And yes, I’m wearing socks and slides. Bite me. Amongst my stark wardrobe of black and white, there is also something a bit softer that I just can’t quite let go of. Hey, this girl was raised in the country, with a mom that only cooked homemade & organic, and a porch we sipped coffee on every lazy morning. Sometimes it feels good to go back to that place. So here’s to foggy valley views, yoga, and looking just a bit granola. Enjoy the weekend babes. photography:KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | chunkysweater:KENSI | pants:FOREVER21 | slides:NICOLE

bloggers bend both knees

Had a funny, brief IG conversation with a friend Samuel from Style Over Substances about the awkward things bloggers do to get just the right shots. Things that non-bloggers (and bloggers alike) would probably be on the floor cracking up about it if they were to have any clue, or (God forbid) witness any one of these travesties. One of mine that started the convo – balancing my iPhone on a coffee table, and sprinting to my couch (…. several times… like, literally 20 times. ok 30…) to get a seemingly relaxed living room shot when I was home by myself. Another one – the fake walk. Don’t lie to me, I know you’ve done it too. And one of those even stranger components I’ve noticed about said fake walk… bending both knees makes it somehow look more natural…. even though I’m pretty sure no one bends both knees so far down in a regular stride. So please tell me because I’m dying to know – what are the most peculiar things you’ve found yourself …

white out instagram moment

Enjoying a bit of unseasonably warm weather in VA… and couldn’t resist a quicky of the #ootd. It’s been a crazy week as usually getting ready for shoe show season, and I have two more looks in the queue waiting for verbiage. So in the interim, stay posted with the all-mighty Instagram and it’s mastering of my on-the-spot capturing of moments! These were taken just a few hours ago, welcome to the nitty gritty inside of the corners of my life haha. when it’s all said and done

I’ve been waiting a solid week to make this post – actually longer if you consider the time from when I found this coat and created the outfit in my head. Perhaps it’s absurd to get so excited over one article of clothing, but frankly I don’t care. It was love from the moment I spotted this too-soft, toasty, perfectly shaded overcoat. And where was it hiding, no other than T.J. Maxx. Yes I’m a bit obsessed with that place, and this particular shopping trip really broke the bank. But how could one resist. This Geianni Feraud masterpiece was a fraction of the original price (I’m getting shaky just thinking about it). The find would have been the highlight of my week, other than the fact I finally got to take a long fall drive to do nothing but admire the season. Photographed every inch of this earth from point A to point B on the mini trip. The rest of it – a mixed pot from the good to very good. Bargain pieces include …
