workwear street style with Anne Fontaine

An air of confidence, a long temperate stride. She brushes back a loose wisp of hair and lets her hand fall unassumingly down the tailored lines of her suiting. You catch a glimpse of her slightly parted lips as she glances back at the cityscape behind.  The master of street style. Editorial worthy ensembles that look somehow effortlessly draped on as if completely unthought perfection could be truly possible. But what if it was? There are a few brands that create a story behind their pieces, delivering timeless luxury essentials season after season. Brands that collections which are elegant, graceful and seductive, yet simple and understated – allowing the details of the craftsmanship to speak volumes at just a glance. living lighter with less

’Til 2022, a deep desire for “less” has continued to well up in my being. Perhaps partially driven by a complex, heavy world around us. Simplicity is uncomplicated peace, and excess is no more than baggage. I’ve applied this not only to a more capsule approach to my wardrobe, but throughout my home and life as well. It’s become easier and easier to let go of the baggage that builds up with time, and more and more rewarding as the piles of unneeded disappear leaving more time to kick back and enjoy what you have. Not only in things which are material, but also in matters of the mind.    We are a generation of over thinkers. Of excess, and emotional weights we carry with us throughout our lives. It’s a new year, and it’s time to eliminate and reduce baggage – physically, mentally and emotionally. The cause and effect is simple, with less, we are lighter. With less burdens, we can stand up straighter. We become free to pursue what makes us truly happy without …

today’s outfit inspo: the sweater vest

No filters, no effects, today’s actual outfit. After putting some thought into what I want to see @dayinmydreams represent this fall as a minimalist and luxury fashion blog, I want to share more real life moments and fashion that isn’t just styled for a feed, but styled for life. Today is one of my last work from home days, before I return to the office full time as marketing director of CSC. while most of this year has been a blur, I’ll tell you my 8-5 work from home style has been essentially loungewear with a blazer thrown over top. That’s about to change as we return to the office, and I have to admit, I’m a bit excited for the shift in gears. Lots coming for fall. Just published this fall’s trend report on key styles we’re seeing from around the globe. Get ready for a continuation of preppy sophisticates, as well as an emergence of nature-inspired trends – largely rooted in sustainability. You can check out the full fall trend report here. With October right …

fw21 fashion trend report

Not really sure where summer went, but after a brief hiatus for our summer wedding, fall has nearly arrived – and it’s time for a fall trend fashion report. Working in the fashion industry now for 10 years, it’s always a seasonal highlight to review just what’s new and what’s being reinvented. 2021 proved to be another chaotic year socially and politically, which always leads to an interesting mix of fashion trends emerging across the scene globally. A medium where people seek to express themselves through a mix of patterns, silhouettes and statement pieces, fashion is the personal expression of our society’s “climate”. As such, it’s no surprise to see a more natural mix of fall trends emerging as people seek to identify with a more simple time Sustainability plays a dominant role across all fall fashion trends, as brands and consumers alike begin to think more about the repercussions fo their actions and purchases. Nature has inspired many of our fall trends, from a mix of unprecedented natural materials like grasses, plastics and even …

transitional style for chilly nights | the oversized utility shirt “shacket”

In 2020 at home, casual style was taking over the scene with co-ord sweatsuits, graphic hoodies and fuzzy slip-ons. Well 2020 is over and it’s finally time to dress to impress – the only problem is now that we’ve gotten a taste of the cozy, how are we supposed to leave that behind? 2021 spring fashion trends are all about being comfortable while stepping back out into the world for the first time in months. What we’re all really looking for is how we bring our new comfy lounge aesthetics outside. One FW20 trend that has transitioned to the spring of 2021 is the shacket (or shirt jacket). This oversized utility shirt trend is just what it sounds like: a shirt that can be worn as a jacket, dress, or (obviously) an oversized shirt. It is a perfect combination of a tailored button down look with a more cozy, spacious feel that makes it extremely versatile. How to style a shacket There are so many different ways to incorporate this key item into your early …
