Anyone else been wondering what’s up with these mattress-in-a-box phenomenons? I’ve partnered with Tomorrow to provide you a review and show you exactly what that’s all about, and what you can expect when unboxing your memory foam hybrid mattress.
Tomorrow is one of the iconic sleep-support brands providing sleepers with an easier solution to mattress shopping – mattresses delivered in a box, straight to your door. (I live in a third-story apartment, so I can’t express how much easier that makes life for me).
Unlike their competitors, Tomorrow not only specializes in easy delivery, their business model is centered around providing a sleep-experience, rather than just a mattress.
“We believe the better you understand what you do while you sleep, the more you can improve how you feel when you step out of bed”. – Tomorrow
With that principal in mind, they have studied the connection between engineering and sleep environment and their affect on a good night’s sleep. Now providing a range of mattresses designed to support any sleeping position, along with sleep-supporting devices such as a sleep monitor, better drapes and memory foam pillows, they seek to provide a clean slate every morning, after the power of a good night’s sleep.
After signing up to be a contributor to a Tomorrow mattress review, I was able to select a few of my choice accessories to arrive along with my mattress. I received a queen size, medium-soft mattress, two memory foam pillows, a set of sheets, and a plush comforter. (Sounds like a bedroom makeover is in order.)
I’ll review each Tomorrow piece in a bit of detail below, but in case you want to see for yourself – I’ve also created this short video of the unboxing process. Enjoy!
Tomorrow mattress review
As you can see, the Tomorrow mattress arrives in a large, vertical box. Inside, the mattress is rolled and vacuum sealed, compressing it enough to shippable form. But don’t be fooled, that doesn’t mean the mattress doesn’t have any structure. Upon breaking the seal, the mattress quickly comes to life, expanding into a full-size, standard mattress in just minutes.
I have tried another mattress-in-a-box before, and comparatively, Tomorrow is quite soft and pliable, and fairly heavy. The flexibility of the mattress combined with the weight make it difficult to move around once opened, so be sure you’ve got it where you want it before breaking the seal. The memory foam hybrid mattress is composed of two separate “layers”. The top few inches is super spongy, almost like a pillow top, and lined with a soft, gently textured design. The bottom is lined with a sort of canvas, which makes it ideal for floor-sleepers like us, protected from contact with the floor. Naizak was a huge fan.
Tomorrow sheets
The sheets are made with 100% USA grown Supima cotton at a 500 thread count. My favorite part – the fitted sheet is elasticized all the way around with a wider-than-normal elastic, making the sheet easy to snap into place.
The comforter
The comforter is plush, light, and fluffy. I thought it was made with down from the first feel, but had to double check since it was so lightweight. It turns out it’s made with a custom material called ThermoBall that’s designed to keep you warm while being breathable while you sleep. Whatever it is, it definitely gives you that ultra-plush, sink-in feeling.
Memory foam pillow
The Tomorrow memory foam pillow is two-sided and designed to feel cool on one side and cozy on the other. So depending on your sleeping temperature, you can actually choose “the cold side of the pillow” if you want. I have some chronic tension issues in my neck and between my shoulders, so pillow support is a big deal to me. I slept with these two puppies last night, and woke up feeling comfortable with minimal aches. The pillows conform slightly to your head, so it helps to isolate movement and personalize your sleep experience.
Overall, it was great to try a new form of mattress-in-a-box with Tomorrow, working to help people get a better night’s sleep (We all need that). Let me know if you have any other questions on the sleep experience, and if the Tomorrow mattress review video was helpful for you in being able to get a feel for it yourself. It’s currently the weekend, so contemplating getting an extra few zzz’s myself.
