Now the proud owner of a half-dozen pairs of custom made shoes from Shoes of Prey (being a fashion blogger has its perks), I figured it was about time to write a proper review. Note that all pairs were gifted to me by Shoes of Prey, but I was in no ways obligated to make this post. They’re just a super cool company doing innovative things, so I couldn’t help but want to share with you.
About Shoes of Prey
Shoes of Prey emphasizes three primary features: quality, comfort and simplicity. They’ve begun building their empire letting you be the designer of custom-made shoes at an affordable price range – at your door in just 2 weeks.
“For women who believe style is a reflection of who they are,Shoes of Prey is the only destination for custom-made shoes at non-luxury prices, so that you look and feel your best self.” – Shoes of Prey
Launched fairly recently in 2009, they quickly expanded their market all over the globe, empowering women to be themselves by allowing them to create one of a kind masterpieces of their very own. Customization is a huge trend in the fashion industry, from removable patches to stud work and even painted designs- and it’s one of the reasons I’ve really been wanting to right this Shoes of Prey Review. They offer their consumer full control in the drivers seat of their own creation. And with 6 million unique possible styles, there’s more than enough personalization to go around.
How to design your custom-made shoes
Shoes of Prey offers a variety of styles, which can be customized from colors and materials to heel height and shape. If you’re not sure where to start, they have a variety of pre-designed combinations you can either choose to purchase as-is, or further customize. You can also start by shopping the shoe type (heels, boots, mules, etc.) or by occasion (bridal, evening, work).
If you’re feeling like you’re ready to start from scratch, click directly on “Create” and be taken to a room of white where you can choose from any of the heels, flats, boots, sandals or sneakers – all white like a blank canvas and ready for your creative genius to come out. Once you select a style, prepare for the fun! Options vary based on the style, but you can expect something like the following options:
Variable shoe features:
- Size (standard or wide)
- Toe shape
- Heel shape
- Heel height
- Colors
- Materials
Parts of the shoe you get to design:
- Upper panels
- Heel wraps
- Sole
- Lining
- Trim
- Eyelets
- Bows / embellishments
- Custom Logo prints
- And more!
Don’t have time to finish your design? Or want to compare a few options? Shoes of prey offers a digital shoe closet, where you can store your designs and come back to purchase. Can you spot the styles that have been featured on my blog?
Shoes of Prey quality
Quality is a point of emphasis for Shoes of Prey, and I have to admit they’ve done a great job of it. With so many different pairs in my wardrobe, I’ve gotten to experience a variety of materials and silhouettes, all which have held up to the test of time. The pebbled leathers are my favorite, with a buttery, luxurious texture.
Shoes of Prey fit
Another benefit to trying so many styles, I was able to experience the full range of fitting for their line. I usually wear anywhere from a size 6.0-6.5 US. I followed my standard ordering procedure and went with the 6.5 and all fit perfectly comfortable. And coming from a girl who treks around in NYC and beyond, that says a lot.
Favorite styles from Shoes of Prey
Alright, here’s the dishing on my all time favorite styles from Shoes of Prey. I must say I quite love them all, but there are a couple pairs that have really stood out as repeatable, wearable styles. Firs, the Jasmin 100. I designed this in all black with a crock upper band and square block heel (featured below)d. It’s sooo comfortable I can wear it all day, and it gives off a really high-fashion, luxury vibe. My second favorite (and totally opposite) is the Carroll 0 slide. Done in a heavy pebbled leather, this sandal is ultra soft and flexible, making it a great grab for errands or a weekend on the lake. I brought this pair with me to a girl’s trip – and all mothers and daughters alike tried to snag the pair. Definitely a winner for versatility and extreme comfort.

The shoes have held up great! And I’ve put them through quite a bit of wear. The cuff is by one of my favorite blogger/designers The Haute Pursuit, and it’s part of her original collection on thpshop.co
