Summer has never felt warmer – and not in the temperature department (though that’s been quite pleasant as well). Every year brings tides of change, and this one has been filled with some of the brightest moments I can recall. The biggest blessing in life is being able to wake each morning eager to start the day, and I sincerely hope that each of you experience the same. And those days when you are able to see the light – soak up the sun and enjoy without looking back. In not-so-far history, I recall having days nearly impossible to rise, anxious for what the day might hold – and other mornings spent longing for just a moment of rest after 80 hour work weeks back-to-back. Currently in NYC writing from the bed of my Airbnb – just finished the most amazing salmon dinner and draft IPA, reaching for blankets and anything cozy within reach. And what could be more cozy than one of my favorite trends this season, which is all things knit – namely the more untraditional pieces like double knit sets, knit dresses, knit pants (you get the idea). Effortlessly chic, and comfy as sweats, what’s not to love. So as you can imagine, this set from StyleWe is heaven for me. I actually wore the bottom half to an NYC Fashion Week cocktail party, paired with a variant knit sleeveless crop. Sitting and contemplating today’s topic of conversation. Somehow my mind isn’t pulling any specific thoughts together, which I think just might be a good thing. Not that I’m condoning mindless leisure, but really – we all need a mental break sometimes.  And honestly, it feels absolutely lovely. There is something beautiful in the quiet stillness of this moment. As if the entire world has gone blank… in a new, fresh sort of way. Our world is forever moving, and the places it takes us are a mixture of beauty, excitement, sadness, joy, and the unexpected. Life wouldn’t balance without a little of each. I find it best to accept all with a sort of reverence to the bigger picture, which our minds are so often incapable of comprehending in the moment.  This week has been a blur of each, as I say goodbye to two of my dearest friends. (no, they didn’t die). Their lives are taking them on beautiful adventures! And I couldn’t be more excited for the new opportunities they’ll experience with a change in work and new surroundings. Walked into the grocery store this weekend to the welcoming aroma of freshly brewed, pumpkin spice latte, only to discover on my way out that it was actually perfumed pinecones… who came up with this madness?! Learning to let go. The future is now, and the only direction she moves is forward. Took Friday off for an impromptu holiday. Not a thing to do or place to go.
