missing pieces

Made it through another semi-annual closet purging! #isurvived holy. crap. I have way too much stuff. Thank you to my girlfriends who helped migrate a few things into their own closets. As for the rest… Goodwill here I come. It’s always a good reminder to spend more on good basics, and ditch buying the froo-froo stuff. Better things last forever. (darn you TJMaxx and your seasonal sales… yeah I know, I’ll be back next weekend. sorry. love you.) Always finding the most incredible closet inspirations online, and can only dream of one day having nice enough (and few enough) pieces to organize it in such a way that I’d just as soon have a cocktail party in there as store my clothes. Guess I’ll just keep dreaming. In the spirit of basics, got down to the most simple (and never failing) combination. Black jeans. White T. You know those days you spend up to your last 30 seconds before you’re late for work trying on every single thing in your wardrobe with “nothing to wear”… Those last …

when it’s all said and done

I’ve been waiting a solid week to make this post – actually longer if you consider the time from when I found this coat and created the outfit in my head. Perhaps it’s absurd to get so excited over one article of clothing, but frankly I don’t care. It was love from the moment I spotted this too-soft, toasty, perfectly shaded overcoat. And where was it hiding, no other than T.J. Maxx. Yes I’m a bit obsessed with that place, and this particular shopping trip really broke the bank. But how could one resist. This Geianni Feraud masterpiece was a fraction of the original price (I’m getting shaky just thinking about it). The find would have been the highlight of my week, other than the fact I finally got to take a long fall drive to do nothing but admire the season. Photographed every inch of this earth from point A to point B on the mini trip. The rest of it – a mixed pot from the good to very good. Bargain pieces include …

running from waves

One more day by the sea. Though the mornings were beyond crisp, the afternoons were perfection with a light breeze and 70’s sun. Just enough to bring out more freckles on my face. I’m still in denial that they’re actually sun spots. I knew it would be much too cold to get in the water, so I opted for some knit Bermuda shorts (that I’m absolutely obsessed with) and a jacket. Needless to say, they were both wet by the time we departed. I just can’t resist the salty goodness. Also noticing I’ve put my slides through a lot, time to shop for a replacement pair! photography: KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | fleece:NASTYGAL |  slides:NICOLE

it started in september

Ever wonder what it would be like if every whimsical notion that popped into your head was not only entertained, but thought through and dissected for the possibility of execution – rather than locked away into your mind’s file cabinet of endless ideas without further engagement? Well, there would probably be a lot of failures, and impossible amounts of wasted time and resources. But a precious few of those ideas would be given the opportunity to escape the mind’s prison and become something beyond it’s otherwise zero potential, opening up a world of unlimited possibilities. All that to say, today I’ve decided to start a journal of a day in my dreams. This particular day was what I like to think of as perfection. Nothing is better than a warm breezy day in September being spent outdoors with nothing in particular pressing to do, other than take the time to enjoy the moment. Stop and get a cup of jo at the local coffee shop, take the pooch for an extended stroll, eat a cucumber wrap with hummus, and take a …
