you and the moon

Worlds colliding this week with preparation for FFaNY and WWDMagic, in addition to having family in town for the next couple of days. Yet again, finding myself wishing there were a few extra hours in each day, but then – that’s better than wishing them away. The past few months have brought with them many changes, and I find my heart to be as restless as the world around me. On the brink of a breakthrough, or on the edge of devastation – some part of me finds pleasure in the conflict. It’s like being a speck caught in a whirlwind – and as unsettling as that might sound, the adrenaline rush is totally worth the ride. Carrying over the winds into this week’s wardrobe, I found myself playing a lot with combining sport elements into a casual-tailored blend. Those mornings when you find just the right combo and think… “yes. heck yes. today is going to be a killer day…” yeah, it was like that. photography:KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | kimono:FOREVER21 | shoes c/o:CLARKS  |  double bar cuff c/o:ROCKSBOX (use code:DAYINMYDREAMSXOXO for a free …

baby blues

Quicky cell-phone post just because. Rarely one for color, but something about these washed out tones I find totally do-able. Showing off one of my favorite timepieces from Fjord. Definitely a musthave for an almost-minimalist wardrobe. photography:THE COLEY COLLECTION | camera:iPHONE6 | skirt:ZARA | kicks:NIKE AIRMAX | timepiece c/o:FJORD TIMEPIECES | cool sketch:BELLALAIKA   Highlight of the week, Instagram friend @bellalaika who happens to be an extremely talented sketch artist – posted a piece of art she created from one of my original posts! How cool is she. Seriously. Check her out. You can see her sketch below in the top right corner… or check her out directly @bellalaika Plus a week in instagram – I love when the whole square just works. when i go

Back to the big apple for FFaNY, and it’s snowing. again. I’m fairly certain the shoe gods plan this particular feb event in coordinance with the most horrid weather days possible. Curse you shoe gods! One day, I’ll remember to pack snow boots. oh that’s right it’s a shoe show… so I’m not allowed to wear snow boots…. or any boots… <angry face emoji> Ah yes bliss. And there is more at stake than my frostbit piggies, with flights delayed or canceled, bad weather also makes for a slower-than-normal shoe show. WWDMagic show in Vegas is sounding better and better! (note: too bad I missed that show due to more snow. and two canceled flights). Dear shoe gods, where did I go wrong. Ok done whining. In all reality it was a fantastic trip, and thoroughly productive for myself and co-pals, and I’m getting SO pumped about the fall 2015 line of shoes. Plus we even had the luxury of having a few moments to ourselves to stroll around in the city… before I lost all feeling in my toes. About the clothes, I usually pack light …

bloggers bend both knees

Had a funny, brief IG conversation with a friend Samuel from Style Over Substances about the awkward things bloggers do to get just the right shots. Things that non-bloggers (and bloggers alike) would probably be on the floor cracking up about it if they were to have any clue, or (God forbid) witness any one of these travesties. One of mine that started the convo – balancing my iPhone on a coffee table, and sprinting to my couch (…. several times… like, literally 20 times. ok 30…) to get a seemingly relaxed living room shot when I was home by myself. Another one – the fake walk. Don’t lie to me, I know you’ve done it too. And one of those even stranger components I’ve noticed about said fake walk… bending both knees makes it somehow look more natural…. even though I’m pretty sure no one bends both knees so far down in a regular stride. So please tell me because I’m dying to know – what are the most peculiar things you’ve found yourself …

fashion heroes, i’m stalking you

feeling grey by kristina-petrick featuring black home decor   Polyvore obsession continues. It’s like having having the wardrobes of Kaity Modern from Modern Legacy, Ivania Carpio from Love Aesthetics, and Vanessa from The Haute Pursuit – all rolled into one… that you can play in… anytime you want. #fashionheroes #imstalkingyou (if you haven’t heard of them but you’re into minimalistic styling, you need to check them out) All it takes is a few swipes of your fingers and voila, your dream fashion combos have come true. Presented in a pretty package of a malleable, aesthetically pleasing layout. (now if only the clothes came along with it). Oh yeah, and thanks to Polyvore for letting me live out the dream (at least in my head) so much easier. So here’s to my wardrobe heroes, running the bank dry, and beauty over practicality. Cheers.

grey goose on the rocks

First post in the new year! *popping champagne* (any excuse for some Veuve). When I began this blogging journey, I really wasn’t sure what to expect – If I’d have the umph to stick with it,… or if anyone would give two hoots about what I was wearing, or the plethora of random thoughts spilled out on here. But three months later, I’m breaking into the new year still going, and I have to say, the love and support I’ve received from you all has been completely overwhelming, and been the highlight of many days past, and I hope for many to come. Highlights from these first few months include getting followed by a few of my favorite brands, reaching the little milestones along the way (literally my boyfriend is so sick of me jumping on the furniture every time someone likes a post haha),  old friends that have somehow come upon my blog and actually encouraged me instead of poking fun (no, I still haven’t told them),… …and most of all, the new friends …

cold beach hot coffee

Just returned from the most lovely trip to VA beach which I visited for a shoot (more on that later in the year) Spent the extra down time on the beach of course. First day was a balmy mid-70’s type day – perfect for strolling along the sea. The second day (which these photos are from) was FREEZING. Nastygal fleece and Starbucks came to the rescue, so sorry you’re going to see this jacket twice. I believe in packing light. However, I couldn’t resist being that tourist that regardless of the season, had to jet to the beach at 7:00am to catch the sunrise – even through the shivers. Bonus of a cold beach is that we had it all to ourselves! It actually made for quite a charming morning. Though my photographer may have disagreed… Wearing a new shop for the first time called BlackFive. I was apprehensive to order due to mixed reviews online, however the entire lot I purchased from them (and I did purchase a lot) were fantastic! Good quality for …
