how to get a good nights sleep

how to get the best night’s sleep, even with a lawless, overloaded lifestyle

Daylight Savings is just around the corner, and who’s worried about not getting a good night’s sleep? This week has been another firecracker with a busy work schedule and St. Patty’s day festivities off to an early start. My office calendar is exploding with color-coded tabs, and while I should be getting some extra zzzz’s to stay on top of my A-game, sometimes the after-party is too good to resist. I’ll sleep when I’m dead. Or at least, maximize my time when I am awake. They key to functioning at the speed of my digestive system after devouring corned beef, cabbage and a few pints of beer?… a great night’s sleep. Contrary to popular belief, it really is possible to squeeze in a great night of re-charging between even the most overlapping plans. How to manage? Here are some of my tricks to get a great night’s sleep, even with a schedule as lawless as mine. 1. Pencil it in. A fashion blogger’s best friend: a planner, with lots of space on each day, and …

eating clean for 21 days with the organic, vegan Veestro challenge

Disclaimer: I’m not by any means a vegan, and though I try to eat healthy for the most part, there’s not much I can do about resisting a 12oz ribeye and stack of macaroni and cheese. I’m only human after all. I do however, my best at purchasing only organic foods when they’re available, and try to stick to what I would consider a clean diet (non-processed foods). Veggies are at the top of my food pyramid, and aside from water and wine – a cold pressed juice or sparkling kombucha are my go-to drinks of choice. The biggest hurdle in sticking to a healthy diet – limit on time. Sure when I cook I incorporate fresh greens, lean meats and a well balanced array of nutrients (don’t we all at least try to do that?). But working a full-time job, balancing the blog and a personal life makes health and fitness another task that’s difficult to always pencil in. That’s why I was excited when I friend of mine reached out and introduced Veestro. …

DIY turmeric mask home remedy for anti-aging, skin sensitivities, and fading dark spots

For all of you with sensitive skin, redness acne or just people who want to maintain a young, healthy skin glow – here’s a lifestyle blog DIY recipe for a turmeric face mask that’s a natural method for skin SOS. Let’s start with the background. My boyfriend is Indian, so he’s recommended turmeric to me before for its healing properties that have been used in India for centuries both when applied topically directly to the skin or consumed in foods – but I wasn’t quite sold. I have fairly healthy skin, so it just didn’t seem worth the effort. This week (whether due to changes in weather, stress levels, or a new face wash I tried) whatever it was my skin freaked out. I was out having girls night when my chin started hurting. I quick graze revealed a small cluster of breakouts on the bottom of my chin, which has literally never happened. One of my friends gave me tea tree oil, but the issue persisted in the morning. So finally – I gave …

versatility at its finest, NAME activewear review

Gym, then coffee date. Office to happy hour. Yoga to the market. With people overwhelmed with too much to do and too little time, it’s unusual for one to be able to step out of the house for just one thing. My list is normally a mile long of a few errands I’ve been putting off, some element of work and probably trying to squeeze in some social time between appointments. In NYC, that means packing a change of shoes, my laptop and sometimes even a change of clothes. Versatility is key for my lifestyle. If the stuff I tote along with me can’t keep up, its going to end up staying in the closet. In the era of wearable technology, robotics and AI – why can’t a girl get a bag that’s just well, smarter? That’s why I’ve partnered with NAME, a luxury fashion brand to introduce their newest activewear bag. Taking a stance on redefining luxury, NAME understands that a women of our generation seek not only beauty and elegance in fashion, but …

7 things bloggers wish brands understood

To all the bloggers that have felt the same frustrations, and to all the brands that want a meaningful relationship with their blogging partners. This is not a rant, rather a guide to a healthier relationship. I must admit I’ve had the most amazing partners in the past couple of years, so to all of you that I’ve worked with – this isn’t for you. But there are many unspoken secrets that just need to get out for everyone’s sake – so let’s set the record straight shall we? Here are 7 things bloggers wish brands understood for a happier, healthier, more beneficial symbiotic relationship. #1: Please don’t auto subscribe me to your newsletter. Not because I don’t love you. (I truly do!) Because I get 100 emails a day from brands and partners… you just made it 101. #2: I know you think I’m crazy to turn down a post in exchange for your product… and the truth is I may not want to say no, but it just doesn’t always work that way. …
