sweatpants and sneakers

sweat pants and sneaker fashion

Currently 38° in Nashville, TN. Back on the road again shooting a promo real for OTBT shoes and visiting some friends along the way. Filming starts at 9:00am, and the predicted forecast is 22°. Goodbye camera hand, you’re about to get frostbite and die. Crazy makes me seek comfort, so I thought I’d share one of my less stylish vices, sweats and sneakers. (What I wish I was wearing next to my fireplace tomorrow).

In my defense, sweats and sneakers are making a comeback on the fashion scene, with nostalgic sportswear brand favorites like Champion, Puma and Adidas thriving in the era of athleisure. But it’s not sportswear that sets this fashion trend apart. Sweats themselves (non-athletic wear) are no longer for lazy days at home, they’re actually in vogue. Don’t believe me? I’ve spent the past 2 weeks collecting hundreds of celeb spottings and outfit ideas in the once frowned upon fashion clichés in chic streetwear galore. Check out my Pinterest board for the deets. In the meantime, here’s the scoop on this hot (and warm) 2019 fashion trend.

Let’s start with the why. Fashion is inspired by culture, and culture is looking for comfort. With unrest around the globe , there is a large sect of people looking to escape into a cocoon of protection, warmth and safety. And what could be more comforting than an oversized pair of your boyfriend’s sweats?

What’s so chic about it? 1: fashion doesn’t need to be chic, it should be an extension of your lifestyle. 2: if you want to be chic, there are actually endless ways to incorporate sweats into classy compilations. For model off duty on a coffee run, opt for an overcoat over tonal sweat pants and a hoodie. Large sunnies are a must. For a more athleisure look, you can layer them with a hat and sneakers while keeping it chic with luxury accessories.

Need to experience comfort on a whole new level? Skip the pants, and go for the XL sweatshirt. Celebs are wearing this look with thigh high boots or Dr. Martins. Or, you can roll like Niazak and I in the comfort of our own home, rocking some Adidas in shades of grey.

Sweat suit outfits are also a steal, and a greater comfort is hard to find in the midst of dry January and New Years resolutions in full swing. Ready to give in to this year’s most lackadaisical trend of 2019? I’ve copied in some of my favorite links above to score some great sweatpants and hoodies online, along with a few of my favorite sneaker brands. Don’t feel like scrolling back up? More below.
