The tones here were softened from the burst of colors in the rest of India. It’s as if the city gave off a radiance of soft tenderness. A sort of pearl itself, amidst a palace of jewels. Checking-in to Jaipur. Known for the architectural beauty of it’s cities, temples, forts,.. and pearls. The photos capture a mixture of Amber Fort (which we actually toured twice – once on foot, once on elephant!) as well as a stop along the water palace known as Jal Mahal. One of the most beautiful cities I have ever experienced. The pink city has an ordinance that no building can be painted any other color – which leant the city to a sort of dreamy, ethereal fervor. Attempting to be a minimalist in a country of color. Found this snow white traditional Indian kurta and salwar at a local market, along with the silver rings. iced coffee

Summer!!!…. ok you’re right it’s still spring. But it’s on it’s way dammit. And one of the most anticipated treats of the warmer season -iced coffee. Sure I like the hot stuff, but something about that roasted nutty flavor on the rocks… noms. Keepin it fresh and clean for the new season. Realizing I need to trade these dollar store shades in for some wayfarers, but in the mean time – enjoy the $1 fashion. Which, by the way, is a needed reminder that money doesn’t buy style, and brand names don’t make an item hot. Wear what you like, and stay true to your style. Because you look amazing if you feel amazing. photography:KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | funnel neck:NASTYGAL | pant:EXPRESS | slides:NICOLE

i dream of the sea

Some dream of love, life, money, success… I dream of the sea. Something about the sound of the crashing waves, endless horizon, and the taste of warm salt on the air. I could stay in that place forever without end. Such a calm, quiet feeling of surrealism that sets in over my whole being. Wearing my first purchase from Madewell. Not my key-identifying brand, but amongst their earthy-boho pieces, they do have some nice minimal items in their collection as well. And true to their word, the denim pieces do really have an exceptional fit. photography:KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | top:MADEWELL | jeans:MADEWELL | cuffs:THPSHOP | slides:MADELINE

darkest night

Just a quicky cell-phone only post from the Atlanta Shoe Market. The weather was beyond frigid, and with all the walking about – I opted for my go-to overcoat and some simple basics beneath. Got the Zara top while I was in Atlanta for the show! (read: addict) Those beautiful black booties being sported… yeah my dog ate them a week later <tears> At least it was on the brink of spring season, so no looking back, and on to pool slides! On another note, I’ll be a bit MIA for the next few weeks, if you keep up with my Instagram you already know! China – here I come. And India, will be there shortly after. And yes… I am already dreaming of the beautiful Instagram backdrops that are going to be pretty much flooding my page – so join me digitally and check it out as they get snapped!  INSTAGRAM photography:THE COLEY COLLECTION | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | overcoat:THRIFTED | top:ZARA | boots:NICOLE

culottes and cake

Accessories are the icing on the cake. And cake without icing is basically just bread… so yeah – it’s a must. Feeling especially chic thanks to net-a-porter and fjord timepieces. If you think you can’t afford quality accessories, put those few shopping dollars in a jar the next few times you’re tempted to shop, and save up for something special that will last years. It’s worth the investment. #qualityoverquantity Oh and remember when only the homeschooled kids were wearing culottes and it was supper weird and awkward when you were playing in the park with all the cool kids wearing jeans? #personallifestory Well they’re back! And I couldn’t be loving it more. They’re a chic minimal piece that also plays off of the normcore trend with the anti-fashion league. Plus, if you get the knit versions like me, it’s basically like sweatpants made socially acceptable. white out instagram moment

Enjoying a bit of unseasonably warm weather in VA… and couldn’t resist a quicky of the #ootd. It’s been a crazy week as usually getting ready for shoe show season, and I have two more looks in the queue waiting for verbiage. So in the interim, stay posted with the all-mighty Instagram and it’s mastering of my on-the-spot capturing of moments! These were taken just a few hours ago, welcome to the nitty gritty inside of the corners of my life haha. work hard, play harder, and eat a lot

At FFaNY! For any of you not in the shoe business (…probably all of you)  That is not some weirdly brilliant acronym I was cool enough to make up for your amusement, it’s a shoe show held 4 times a year in the city, and one of my bitchin perks of the job. The December show is the ultimate pleasure… it’s the first time our team gets to lay eyes on our new crop of product for the following year (so this time, we’re planning styles for our Fall/Winter 2015 collections). Wishing I could share a sneak peak at some of the eye-candy, but all under wraps for now! (AH THEY’RE SO GOOD!) X) Aside from the buzz and hustle at the showroom, a bit of time is also spent catching up with a few dear friends local there, enjoying the views and delicacies (so many treats for a small-town girl like me!), and of course, an insanely well-planned wardrobe. First day of the show, sporting perforated leather joggers (one of my prize investment pieces), …

when it’s all said and done

I’ve been waiting a solid week to make this post – actually longer if you consider the time from when I found this coat and created the outfit in my head. Perhaps it’s absurd to get so excited over one article of clothing, but frankly I don’t care. It was love from the moment I spotted this too-soft, toasty, perfectly shaded overcoat. And where was it hiding, no other than T.J. Maxx. Yes I’m a bit obsessed with that place, and this particular shopping trip really broke the bank. But how could one resist. This Geianni Feraud masterpiece was a fraction of the original price (I’m getting shaky just thinking about it). The find would have been the highlight of my week, other than the fact I finally got to take a long fall drive to do nothing but admire the season. Photographed every inch of this earth from point A to point B on the mini trip. The rest of it – a mixed pot from the good to very good. Bargain pieces include …

running from waves

One more day by the sea. Though the mornings were beyond crisp, the afternoons were perfection with a light breeze and 70’s sun. Just enough to bring out more freckles on my face. I’m still in denial that they’re actually sun spots. I knew it would be much too cold to get in the water, so I opted for some knit Bermuda shorts (that I’m absolutely obsessed with) and a jacket. Needless to say, they were both wet by the time we departed. I just can’t resist the salty goodness. Also noticing I’ve put my slides through a lot, time to shop for a replacement pair! photography: KUNDAN KUMAR | camera:CANNON 5D MARK III | fleece:NASTYGAL |  slides:NICOLE

cold beach hot coffee

Just returned from the most lovely trip to VA beach which I visited for a shoot (more on that later in the year) Spent the extra down time on the beach of course. First day was a balmy mid-70’s type day – perfect for strolling along the sea. The second day (which these photos are from) was FREEZING. Nastygal fleece and Starbucks came to the rescue, so sorry you’re going to see this jacket twice. I believe in packing light. However, I couldn’t resist being that tourist that regardless of the season, had to jet to the beach at 7:00am to catch the sunrise – even through the shivers. Bonus of a cold beach is that we had it all to ourselves! It actually made for quite a charming morning. Though my photographer may have disagreed… Wearing a new shop for the first time called BlackFive. I was apprehensive to order due to mixed reviews online, however the entire lot I purchased from them (and I did purchase a lot) were fantastic! Good quality for …
