white, nude, grey – spring fashion in neutrals

It’s starting to feel like spring… and that means breaking out the lighter colors from your wardrobes (not that they’ve been tucked away). We all know white in winter is no longer a cliche, but something about that warm seasonal sun makes the bright shades in fashion all the more glorious. Here are a few spring style tips and fashion forecasting tidbits for staying on trend this season.

What to place on high-rotation this spring? Distressed jeans are the number-one spring fashion comeback of the season. Don’t miss out! From worn-in wear to raw-edge fray – it’s time to bring back the 90’s grunge in a whole new way. The more raw, the better. Look for unexpected hems with loose strings, ragged ends and high-low trim. Too fast for your pace? Try a classic skinny with some heavy distressing at the knee. And while casual has been all the rage, don’t be afraid to dress up your spring and summer fashion. Pumps are also on a comeback, and if you don’t have the essentials covered be sure to pick up a neutral staple like this nude stiletto from M. Gemi. It literally matches everything. Next on my agenda, reminding myself how to walk in them.

This look is layered with blouse and a light dust jacket to support the bi-polar weather so notorious in the spring. A tip for layering fashion pieces while avoiding bulk, make sure your under-layer fits comfortably under your outer layer. If not, try draping your outerwear over your shoulders for a more lightweight, casual look. Good news: if you invested in a few good, lightweight jackets last year, they’re still in.

The icing on the cake? A few subtle accessories, no need to go overboard. The lightning bolt wallet adds a more edgy “yes I follow fashion” vibe. Think Fendi. But not as pricey. Rawr. Don’t be afraid of sequins. Fashion watches continue to be a go-to accessory for spring, look for more golds as the perfect compliment to this season’s biggest color trend: neutrals and blush.

Ready to stock up on the essentials for freshening up your spring wardrobe? Parker Smith has been a go-to for me in denim (so soft, so stretchy) and they carry a load of distressed denim styles. And don’t forget to bargain hunt if you’re pursuing a minimalist lifestyle and wanting to invest in long-term, luxury pieces. Gilt has been my go-to for freshening up my luxury fashion collection as well as sprucing up my new office space for spring (stay tuned for the first sneak peeks). Until then, may you spring in style!
