something silk

silk layers

Summer’s long gone and the craving for cozy has already started to set in. Chili has been on the menu twice this week, and evenings become a race to get home before dark. The moon that used to look friendly and cool has darkened to a cold foreboding stare. In search for the little comforts in life, we find ourselves groping for anything that has brought us relief in years past. Thick socks, riding boots, and dare I say… pumpkin spice latte. Yup… it’s happening. But not all the days a icy and unwelcoming. The east coast has still gifted us with a few days of lingering sun, and the moments between the contrast call for one solution – silk.

Silk has a way of caressing the skin and creating a sense of warmth and natural comfort. Like furry slippers on cold floors, or chocolate in your mouth after a spicy dinner. That kind of feel good feeling. It’s lightweight, and almost velvety to the touch. That and a couple rays of that sun, a smile can slip across the face once more. Thanks to Grana, summer has come back to me, at least for a couple more days.

Layered with some silver pieces and loafers and slipping into a cardi after the sun sets keeps the feel good going. These silk pieces are by Grana, a producer of silk and other luxury material pieces at attainable prices, so everyone can keep enjoying that summer feeling. Their honest approach is refreshing, and in a consumer world where we need to know, Grana doesn’t keep anything back. And why should they. There’s a story behind each of their pieces. The sourcing of the material, the simple designs, the direct to consumer approach, and people. Real people who are happy to deliver more that shirts and trousers. They deliver a lifestyle. And that’s why I love them.

Sporting two sets in my transitional wardrobe, grey joggers and cami and a black short set. Each piece is versatile so I’ve been rotating them around with other pieces in my wardrobe.

These particular pieces from their collection are made with silk from Huzhou China by artisans from the city of silk. It’s soft with a subtle sheen, and a luxury drape that captures the light like shadows of the moon on a still lake. In simple terms, it’s beautiful, luxurious and responsibly sourced. The cardi has it’s own beautiful journey to share from the edges of Mongolia, but for that you’ll have to wait for another post, so stay tuned. Doesn’t it feel good to know where your wear is from?
